Chapter Twenty-Seven

After Seb carried me back to bed last night, I didn’t wake up once. Having his body wrapped around me felt so safe and comfortable.
When I finally do wake up, I find him nibbling on my neck. His soft curls are rubbing against my face.
“Excuse me. I was sleeping,” I say, running my fingers through his hair.
“Hmm.” He licks his way up my face until he lands on my lips. “Time to wake up.”
As he starts kissing me, I run my hands over his chest. Sadly, there seems to be a shirt over his glorious muscles.
“Wait,” I say, sitting up and wrapping the blankets around me, “why are you dressed?”
“I have to leave.” He tries to tug the blankets down. “We have a day game today.”
“No,” I say, holding them around me. “Either get naked or you can’t access what’s underneath here.”
“Are you sure?” He smiles as his hand runs over the blankets down my body. “I have a few minutes and my mouth kind of wants to be down here again.”
“A few minutes?” I swat at his hand. “It’s going to take longer than that.”
“Really?” He raises his eyebrows—his eyes twinkling underneath them. “It didn’t last night.”
“Wow.” I feel myself blushing a little bit. “Someone’s a little full of himself this morning.”
“I’m just saying.” He growls as he kisses me again. “I want to stay and hear all those sexy little sounds you make—God, I want to—but I have to go. I need to run by my house before I head to the stadium.”
“What time is it?” As I yawn, I stretch my arms up causing the blankets to fall.
He dives into me—burying his face between my breasts.
“Seven,” he mumbles. “Is it possible to stay right here for the rest of the day?”
“I wish.” I rub my face into his hair.
“Grrr!” He sits up and shakes his head. “I hate being an adult. I have to go. I’ll have one of the security guys swing by to take you to your car when you’re ready.”
“No, It’s fine. I’ll call an Uber—”
“That’s not safe,” he says, running his hands over my shoulders. “Let me send someone.”
“Do you know how many cars, cabs, planes, and trains I’ve taken successfully without your help?”
He smiles. “You didn’t know me then. Now that you do, let me help you.”
“You can help me with certain things, Mr. Control Issues, but I can get to the stadium by myself.”
“Okay, okay.” He brushes his hand over my cheek as he comes in for another kiss. “Will you at least find me when you get in? I’ll worry whether you want me to or not. And I was thinking maybe tonight I could cook for you at my place after the game. Unless you want to go out to a restaurant—”
“Seb,” I say, grabbing his arm, “I’m still working for the team. We can’t be seen together in a personal setting.”
He’s kissing my neck again. It’s making me want to rip off his clothes with my teeth.
“We’ll go to my place then,” he whispers. “The only person who will know is Joe—”
“Joe works for the team.” I rub my face against his cheek. I like the way his stubble feels. I like the way everything about him feels. “This can’t happen again until I’m done with this assignment. It probably shouldn’t have happened last night, but I’m glad it did.”
