“Quiet, Scarlet. We don’t want to wake Kit.”

He pistons his hips and moves in and out, thrusting his hips in a circular motion and hitting all the right places. I reach out for him, and he leans down and captures my lips with his. His tongue explores my mouth and I kiss him back as my need for him grows, dominating all my thoughts.

“Are you going to come for me, Scarlet? Are you going to come undone for me?” he asks, his eyes burning into mine as he owns me from the inside out. You can say what you like about Archer Savage, but he knows how to take me to a high like no other. He covers my mouth with his as I come like a rocket, moaning against his mouth as I’m hit by my release. He moves quicker and harder and the bed squeaks in protests as he takes me hard and fast, and I watch in fascination as his features tense and then he moans out my name as he comes.

He leans his head against mine as we both catch our breath and our hearts steady. This is bad. Have I started something I can’t turn away from? He is addictive. The way he makes me feel when it’s just the two of us, with nothing else between us. He pulls out of me and my greedy vagina whimpers at the loss of him, already planning how she can tempt him back inside of her. Archer rolls onto his back and stares up at the ceiling.

“I still don’t like you,” I tell him, earning me a throaty laugh from him; one I can’t help but smile at.

“I like that you can’t backchat me when your mouth is filled with my cock,” he says, laughing to himself and I jab him in the chest.

He wraps an arm around my waist, and we lie there in silence.

“Archer, were our parents ever a thing?”

I feel him tense at my question. He immediately withdraws from me, and he swings and sits up, giving me his back.

“You’re right, Scarlet. This was a mistake.” He rises to his feet and without a backward glance, he collects his boxers from the floor and stalks out of my room across to his, as naked as the day he was born.

I stare at the closed bedroom door. Fuck him. How dare he just walk out of here like that? I throw my covers back and stomp over to his room as naked as the day I was born and throw his door open. He’s sitting on the end of his bed, still naked, with his head in his hands.

“You don’t get to walk away from me, Archer Savage,” I hiss as I storm over to him and shove him in his chest.

He rises to his feet and glares down at me. “Can’t you take the hint, Scarlet? We fucked. I got what I needed and now you need to take the hint and fuck off.”

I clench my fists. He was fine until I asked about our parents, and I know there is more to this than he is letting on. “I clearly touched a nerve with my question. What do you know about our parents that you aren’t telling me?”

“Nothing,” he growls. He stands and moves to go past me, but I step into his space, stopping him.

“There is something. I can tell by the way your jaw is tense as fuck. Were our parents dating?”

He smirks, and his stare is hateful and angry. “No, they weren’t dating.”

“But they were something,” I insist, stepping further into his space, crowding him and not letting this go.

“Back off, Scarlet,” he orders, gritting his teeth.

“No, tell me,” I insist, holding my own.

He leans down right into my face, his expression filled with aggression and pure rage. “They were engaged.”

I step back in shock as if someone has just slapped me. “Engaged?”

“Engaged,” he repeats as he grabs me by both my wrists and manhandles me towards the door. “Now get the fuck out of my room.” He opens his bedroom door and shoves me out, slamming the door in my face.

Reeling from what he has just told me, I retreat to my bedroom. In a daze, I sit myself down on my bed and I tuck my knees up to my chest as I struggle to come to terms with this revelation. What the hell? Our parents were engaged.

The tension in the car is palpable. I tried to insist that Calvin was driving us, but Archer firmly informed me that Wilbur has agreed it was best we ride with him. I stare straight ahead as we drive to school. Kit seems oblivious to the tension and chats away about football and United’s latest signing, and Archer smiles and listens to him. I want to punch that smile off his face. Annoying fucker. First, how dare he walk away from me after sex, and second, he can’t just drop a bombshell like that and not expect me to have questions.

We pull up at school and Kit jumps out of the car with a quick farewell to me, leaving Archer and I alone in the car.

“You know I will not let this go, right?”

He sighs as he kills the engine. “There’s nothing to tell. They were engaged and then they weren’t.”

“Were they in love?”

He sniggers. “Oh, Scarlet. You think there’s any room for love in families like ours? We marry for power, to strengthen mergers and deals.”
