He frowns. “Nah, they seem high maintenance. I’d settle for a badass with a dirty mind.”

“I’m sorry this mission has taken you away from any normality, even hookups are impossible right now.”

“Not impossible, just damn difficult. The only girl I’m interested in has been claimed by a god.”

I roll my eyes. “We’ve discussed this, we would kill each other.”

“The passion would be worth the explosion.”

“We’d explode before any passion.”

“Didn’t peg you for a premature ejaculator.”

I huff a laugh. “You’re one of my best friends, plus we got this whole bonded stuff going on. I saved your life.”

“And you’re not interested,” he mutters.

I put my head on his shoulder. “How about this? The next time we get a chance, I’ll take you to the hottest club I can find.”

He grins. “Now you’re talking.”

“I won’t even warn them their underwear is in danger.”

He chuckles. “Women’s underwear is always in danger when I’m around.”

“I’m sure you prefer them without underwear.”

He shakes his head and looks at the ceiling like he’s visualizing something. “The right lingerie on a woman is just as sexy as being naked. It can be more provocative not knowing what she looks like. Wrapped in silk and lace, her body is a mystery to be unraveled one strip at a time.”

“That’s… kind of romantic.”

He tuts. “There would be nothing romantic about what I would do to her body after I’d unwrapped it.”

I roll my eyes. There he is. He glances at me. “Why did we need the door shut? Are you wanting a demonstration?” He flips over and launches to his knees. His hands landing on my ribs.

I cock an eyebrow. “What are you doing?”

He digs his fingers into my sides, wiggling them around. I sigh. “I’m not ticklish there.”

He pauses. “How can you not be ticklish?”

I shrug. “Anyway, I closed the door because I have a mission for us, but it requires less gods and more humans.”

He sits back on his heels and rubs his hand over his head. “What’s the mission?”

I glance at the door and drop my voice. “Do gods have super hearing?” Damn, I wish there was a handbook. Zee rolls his eyes and points to his temple. I huff out a laugh before reaching out with my mind, and in a split second I find the connection to him.

“Remember the blades in Archan’s desk?”

“The ones Jed looked like he was going to run away from?”

I nod.“I need those.”

He frowns, crosses his arms and studies me. I swallow the lump in my throat. It’s one thing to gather the items for a plan you are hoping to never enact. It’s another beast to have someone I care for dissect my motives.

“You don’t think you can put him back in the Jar?”

I shrug.“I don’t know, but we won’t get a second chance to deal with Ty. If we cross him once, he’ll murder every single person I’ve ever cared for. It’s not something I’m willing to risk.”
