“Yes, Daddy.”
“We’ll discuss this further tomorrow if you want. G’night, love you, Penny-Pie.”
“I love you too.”
Chapter Sixteen
“You know next weekis our wedding anniversary?”
She looked up from dipping her toast soldiers into her egg. “Since I wasn’t there, it doesn’t make much difference to me.”
His silence drew her eye; he looked miffed.
“Sorry,” she said quickly.
“All the more reason I thought I should make our anniversary special. We’re going away for a romantic break.”
“Ooo, where?”
“Not telling, it’s a surprise.”
“Dadd-y,” she whined.
He crossed to where she sat and tapped her nose. “Little girls stay at home when the grownups play; if you behave like this, I shall go alone and arrange for a babysitter while I’m gone.”
“Oh, no, I promise to be a fully grown-up woman and one sexy wife for this trip. Will I need a bikini and sun lotion, or warm clothes?”
“I’ll pack for you, all you have to do is gather your skincare products and makeup, and I’ll do the rest.”
“Please, Da-ddy, at least give me a hint!”
“Nope!”
“Pretty, pretty please!”
“Carry on like this and you’ll find yourself standing for the rest of the day. Eat your breakfast. I have to go to the factory today, our new range is in. I want to check it out.”
