At least, life was quiet now—for the most part. I savored the easy comfort between Maddox and myself. He lifted me and carried me into the bathroom so we could shower together before crawling into bed.

Even if we had killers to hunt when we returned home, this was nothing compared to what we went through before. Life would be much easier from here on out, especially when we had one another.

I rolled onto my side to study my husband’s face. Even eyes closed, he could tell that I was watching him.

“Are you still not satisfied?” he asked without cracking open an eye.

A grin split my lips. “Never.”

Maddox pinned me with his wolfish eyes. My heart leapt in excitement before he lifted himself over me.

This was the life that I altered fate for. I would never regret it, either.
