“That’s cutting it pretty close,” she says.

“I know. I can just meet you there,” I say.

“I thought we were going to go together,” she says.

“Can we, really? You’re still technically working,” I reply.

“Yeah, working out ways I’m going to make you come.”

“Babe, I’m at work,” I say, blushing.

“Well, you should have thought about that before you called me. You know how hard-up I am for you.”

“I’m hard-up for you, too,” I whisper as I look down the empty hall. “I can’t wait to see you.”

“I’m thinking about doing something tonight,” she replies.

“Yeah? What’s that?”

“FaceTiming you while I touch myself,” she says.

“Yes,” I say, clearing my throat a little too loudly.

She laughs and says, “You really like that idea, huh?”

“It’s been too long,” I say.

“I know. We’ve both been busy, but you’re all mine tomorrow night.”

“I am,” I say as my client walks toward me. “I have to go. I’ll call you tonight when I’m back at the hotel.”

“Get naked first,” she says.

“Babe,” I say, laughing.

Our first date only ended after a late check-out. We kissed in front of her car for another ten minutes before I finally had to go. I’d moved all of my meetings to the afternoon and took the whole morning off to be with her. God, was that worth it or what?

We’d made plans to connect after my dad’s surgery, but he’d had some complications and had remained in the hospital for a few extra days, terrifying my mother in the process. Everything is fine now, but I helped her with him when he got home just to make sure, and that butted up against a work trip that I hadn’t planned on. We’d had to cancel not one but two of our planned dates, which I hated doing, but I knew I needed to be there for my parents. I also knew that we were about to drop this pain-in-the-ass account, and I needed to be there to do it in person. Because this is a long-term contract with many details involved, several lawyers from both sides across the table were also present there to argue their points. It’s taken longer than I would have thought, but once this is done, I should be able to avoid work travel for a while, meaning – I can focus on her, on us.

The flight home is a turbulent one, but I calm my nerves with a stiff drink and thoughts only of her. Phone sex is helpful but isn’t enough anymore. The parties aren’t enough anymore, either. I want her all the time, not just once a month or on a date or two between them. We’ve talked a lot since that first date. Hours and hours have been spent on the phone. We both love the parties and want to keep going, but I hate the idea of any other member touching her. I know that’s hypocritical, but she says she doesn’t want anyone else unless I’m there with her and want it, too. We agree on that. Tonight is the last night of her twelve-month contract. It’s also the last night of my membership unless I renew. She told me before that she had watched her friends have sex a couple of times and would still like to do that. I told her I think that’s hot and have no problem with it. I asked her if I could watch people, too, and she said yes. Then, there’s her getting herself off while I watch on my laptop while we FaceTime. We’ve been on one date, but I feel like we’ve been together for a whole year by now. I’m sure to most people, it’s crazy and wouldn’t work, and while it’s still new, I know that it can, so I hope that it will.

“Well, hello,” she says, smiling at me when I walk through the door.

“Hi,” I say, smiling back.

“May I take your coat?” she asks.

“Are you on coat duty tonight?” I ask, looking confused.

“No.” She shakes her head. “Just for you.”

She removes my jacket and holds it over her arm. Then, she takes my hand, and we walk to the walk-in closet they’re using for the coatroom. She closes the door behind us and pushes me back against the wall behind a row of coats and jackets. Mine ends up probably somewhere on the floor, but her hands are up my dress, slipping off my thong, so I don’t care.

“What if someone walks–”

“Do you care?” she interjects as she kisses me.

“No,” I say and realize at the same time.
