When his father ended the call without saying goodbye, Gabriel sat down heavily on the bed.
The problem was, his father didn’t really have faith in his ability to sort this out, and he was probably wishing he’d sent his nephew James to Heaven’s Cove instead.
This was supposed to be the deal that proved once and for all that Gabriel would be a worthy successor to his father’s business one day. And Nessa was about to screw everything up.
He could hardly insist on moving in with her for a month. The lease seemed clear that she had the right to stay there alone. And in any case, he’d rather stick pins in his eyes than spend time with that disagreeable woman.
He’d hoped they could mostly avoid each other for the few days he’d be spending in Heaven’s Cove. However, that was before she turned into some kind of lease-wielding ninja on a mission to save the Ghost Village, and his stay here was extended.
Yet he had to make a success of this business deal or he’d never live it down.
His father was right. Gabriel got to his feet. He would do as much as he could to catch Nessa out in her hare-brained plan to spend a month living in the cottage. And if that meant staying on in Heaven’s Cove for a while and working remotely from the sitting room at Driftwood House, so be it.
The good news was that Nessa would never last more than a few days roughing it at the cottage, so he wouldn’t have to bear this place for long. Or her either, for that matter.
