His shoulders caved and head hung briefly. When he lifted it, Sincere kissed her tenderly. As he repeated the gesture, his arms wrapped around her. Pulling her closer, Sincere spread her lips with his tongue and deepened the kiss.

This.

This was what she was used to from her husband.

Sincere stood and switched their positions, putting her on the edge of the desk. The easy access he had to her pussy made Faith glad it was sundress season. Her hands lowered to his slacks, fingers quickly unbuttoning and unzipping them. She released a quiet moan as he bit down on her bottom lip and pulled half of her ass off the desk. Placing him at her opening, she relaxed in the feel of her weight held up in his arms.

For a moment, she allowed herself to wonder if things really could be different with Sincere this time around, but her mind quickly became void of thoughts when he slid inside of her. He didn’t seem to care that they were in his office with the door unlocked as he gave her slow, long strokes… and Faith didn’t care either. It was the first time they’d made love in months, and she definitely wanted to take full advantage.

Each time he entered her deeply, Sincere brushed against her clit, drawing a quick orgasm to her core. Trying to prolong it, Faith wrapped her legs around his waist, but that didn’t work. He spread her legs again, keeping them open by placing them in the bends of his arms. As his tongue swirled around hers, he never lost his rhythm, sending tingly spirals of heat throughout her entire body.

Head flung back, Faith gripped the desk as her back arched and toes curled. Biting down on her bottom lip as she whimpered, her body shivered as he sucked her neck. Not long after she came, he did too, then placed a kiss behind her ear before pulling out.

“You promise we’ll talk tonight?” Sincere checked, resting his forehead on hers.

Faith nodded, hugging him and holding him close. “Yes, baby. I promise.”

Sincere

Sincere was hopingFaith would stand by her word and talk to him when he made it home, but he wasn’t going to put too much stock in it. She seemed really adamant about her choice at first. Had he not been distancing himself, there was no doubt in his mind that she wouldn’t have put forth this effort. Putting space between them wasn’t intentional; it was just the only way Sincere knew how to not argue with her every minute of the day.

Every time he saw her, he wanted to yell and force her to take care of this issue, but he knew that would only make her stubborn spirit rebel harder. Besides, this was her battle. As much as he wished he could carry this load for her, he couldn’t. So he didn’t feel like it was his place to try and convince her to fight if she genuinely didn’t want to.

He also didn’t like how in the dark he felt. Sincere was starting to believe there was a lot more of Faith’s past, marriage and health included, that she’d purposely been keeping from him.

Not wanting to overthink it, Sincere got out of the car and headed inside. Loosening his tie, he headed straight for their bedroom. Faith wasn’t in it, but her scent was. She came behind him in the bathroom, starting the shower for him. With a smile, he watched her through the mirror as she grabbed his towel and headed for the laundry room. Even with her working a full-time job as well, she still did small things to serve him and make him feel special… like heating up his towels and boxers while he was in the shower.

Sincere would often return the favor with a cooked meal or paying for her to have a spa day, but he was so drained that neither was in the plans for this evening. If she hadn’t cooked, they would simply have to order in.

He was surprised when she got in the shower with him, but Sincere was glad. The intimacy had definitely been lacking between them lately, so he appreciated Faith’s effort. When they were done, they climbed into bed, laughing at the fact that it wasn’t even eight p.m. yet. Still, they ordered from their favorite barbecue place on Uber Eats, then started the newest season ofHoarders.

Sincere was enjoying their quality time together so much that he didn’t even feel rushed to remind her that they were supposed to be talking, but she did bring it up as they ate with…

“I haven’t been completely honest with you about my past.”

“I figured as much.”

She smiled as she set her grilled corn on the cob down. “Like I said, the cancer has come back three times. This is number four. The first time was the worst, naturally.”

“Was it back to back?” She nodded. “So throughout your whole marriage?”

“Yes. The first time, I lost our baby.” Her eyes watered as she twisted her mouth to the side. Sincere had to tighten his grip on his rib bone to keep from dropping it. He didn’t even know she’d been pregnant before. After wiping his hands, Sincere took hers into his as she fought to compose herself and not release her tears… but shit… he wanted to shed a few for her.

“He wouldn’t vocally say it, but I know that he resented me for it.” Her inhale was shaky. “Jaxon wanted children and he was so happy when we found out I was pregnant, so losing our baby really did something to him. I think that was the worst part of it all for him.” Swallowing hard, Faith paused and inhaled a deep breath. “The second time was when he began to feel neglected, I guess. He said it was all about me and what I was going through, how I was feeling. I never really asked or cared about what he was dealing with because it never felt as important as my issues, to him, so he cheated with someone who gave him the attention I couldn’t. And I mean, I understood it. It hurt bad as hell, but what could I do?” She shrugged. “We weren’t having sex or going out because I was always hurting or in pain, and when I was feeling good, I wanted to go out and do things for and with myself. That’s why I forgave him for cheating. But the third time it came back, he said he couldn’t do this anymore. Which was funny because we caught it so quickly that it was literally just a small little speck of a tumor. It took about a month of oral chemo to knock it out, and it took longer for our divorce to be processed.”

“Did he try to change his mind?”

“Yes, but I didn’t let him come back. He only changed it because he found out the cancer was gone, but the damage had been done at that point. I couldn’t stomach being with a man that basically left me at my worst.”

“That’s understandable.”

“I don’t want you to feel like I was hiding this from you because I didn’t trust you. It’s just hard to talk about and think about such a hard phase of my life. For some dumb reason, I thought I was over this and now here it comes again…” She chuckled as her tears finally began to fall. “I’m just tired, baby.” Her voice softened when she stressed, “I’mtired.”

No longer caring about the meal they were sharing, Sincere pushed their plates away and pulled her into his arms. “I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through any of this, bae.” Faith sniffled as she held him tighter. “It sounds like Jaxon was more of a hindrance than a supportive partner. Would you want to fight more if you were single?”

“Maybe, or if I had a more supportive partner in the past. I think that definitely could have made the first two times easier. A lot of stressing over our marriage didn’t make my situation better. And it did make me feel like a burden. But more than that, I’m just tired of shots and tubes in my fucking chest that itch constantly and pills and hospital visits. I’m tired of feeling bad and suffering. My nerves are forever damaged because of the chemo. I can’t even paint for long periods of time anymore because my hands can’t grip things the way they used to.” When her body began to shake, Sincere held her tighter. “So, yes, maybe having you instead of him the first time around would have made it easier, but I think I still would be tired at this point.”
