“The one and only.”

“About time you called a nigga.” Jacintha chuckled. “You good?”

“Yeah, I just wanted to thank you again for looking out.”

“Can I see you again? Show you how a woman should be treated.”

Blushing, Jacintha shook her head. “I don’t know about that, Henry.”

“Can we talk then so I can change your mind?”

Even though her mind screamed yes immediately, Jacintha waited a few seconds before saying, “Yes, that’s fine.”

“Good. So what are you up to this evening?”

For the entire ride home, Jacintha settled into a casual conversation that had her smiling while she drove. But that smile dropped as soon as she opened the garage and saw both of her husband’s cars there…

??????

After quickly disconnecting the call, Jacintha made her way inside the home she shared with Elite. He must have been speeding to beat her home, because she was going a cool seventy the whole time she was on the expressway. Slowly, Jacintha made her way upstairs to their bedroom, unsure what she was about to walk into.

By the time she made it upstairs, the shower was cutting on. Jacintha chuckled, figuring that was all he’d come home to do. She went into the bathroom, not expecting him to acknowledge her as she grabbed her charger from the plug she’d connected it to earlier while she was doing her makeup.

Opening their walk-in shower, Elite looked her frame over.

“Get in the shower.”

“With you?”

“Yeah.”

“Why?”

“Because I said so.”

Done with the conversation, Elite closed the door. Jacintha smiled. Resting against the sink, she stared at her reflection in the mirror. As beautiful as she was, there shouldn’t have been an insecure bone in her body… but there was. More than anything, that insecurity came from a lack of confidence and security within her life. Herself. Jacintha couldn’t remember the last time she did what she wanted exactly how she wanted without consequence, and she craved that control and freedom.

“Can I take my makeup off real quick?” she asked, and when he agreed, she did. Shortly after, Jacintha undressed and secured her hair under a shower cap, then joined her husband in the shower.

The second their eyes locked, hers watered. Elite was beautiful—inside and out. Even with his flaws and imperfections… Jacintha loved every part of him. But was she stillinlove? And was love enough? Why was she even asking herself that, especially during such an intimate moment with him?

“What’s up?” she asked softly, running her hands down his hard chest and six-pack.

“I’m staying home tonight.”

“Why?”

“Because I think we both need me to.”

His hands cupped her neck, and Elite slowly pulled her closer so they were skin to skin. Almost chest to chest. He was inches taller than her, bringing the top of her head to his armpits.

“Is this just about sex?”

“No, but I think you need that.”

“And you don’t?”

Elite’s head shook. “I would love to make love to my wife, but we’re not connected emotionally right now. We would be fucking, and you know how I feel about that.”
