“We will,” he promised. “We’re doing everything we can.”
“It’s taking too long,” I protested. But right now I needed to not think about it. Instead, I addressed the elephant in the room. “Sorry, I feel like we haven’t seen or talked to each other much lately.”
He blinked down at me, confused by the sudden subject change. “It’s been on my mind too. Between all the mishaps and wounded wolves and witches, I’ve been busy too. Not to mention I worked on the new healing salves. Just yesterday Hades burned his hand working on a car, so it’s already come in handy.”
“We need to get the fuck out of here. Every time we take steps forward, we’re forced to slide back to where we started,” I growled.
“We’re gonna find her. There will be a breakthrough soon and we’ll be right back in the chaos and danger of it all. Until then, we’ll just enjoy our time here.”
The same words Torryn had given me were being said now, but I couldn’t focus on them. Instead, I shifted so I was facing him, wrapping my arms around his middle and resting my head on his chest. I listened to his heartbeat for a few minutes as he lazily drew circles on my back. The connection thrummed between us as if it knew what we needed to reconnect more than we did.
This time I wanted the control, so I moved out of his lap and started pulling at his clothes. He didn’t protest as I exposed his body to me. Muscles dusted in freckles greeted me, and my mouth watered. Not hesitating or letting myself overthink, I lunged for him, locking my mouth on his.
The kiss was desperate and hungry, a war of dominance as he fought me back with just as much fire. But I needed to taste more of him, so I moved back and worked my way down his neck, then his chest, leaving kisses and small bites in my wake. His breath was frantic and his hands settled in my hair as I continued my descent.
Nyx was hard already but the moment I wrapped my lips around his cock, he let out a shaky breath.
“Fuck, I needed this,” he breathed out, the words cutting off as I swallowed him down before pulling back and teasing him with a flick of my tongue. Just as Torryn had tortured me, I drew this out with Nyx. If he was close and started to tense, I’d slow back down and back off before working him right back up again. “Enough.” His protest was followed by him pulling me off of him, then pulling me up for a kiss, not caring if he could taste himself on my tongue.
I didn’t wait for him to order me around, I simply pulled my own clothes off and settled right back on his lap, lining him up, then sinking down on his cock. He rested back on his hands, watching me as I rocked myself on him, each stroke of my hips sending a shockwave through me as my clit grinded against him.
“Watching you fuck yourself on me is fucking hot,” he breathed out. I grinned up at him and couldn’t help but drink in the sight of him stretched out, muscles tensing and shifting as he slowly met each rock of my hips. His pale-blue eyes were studying me closely, but as my orgasm built, I couldn’t keep up my focus, instead I braced my hands on him and rode his cock like it was my fucking job.
My orgasm didn’t build up slowly, it gripped me like a fucking vise, squeezing the air from my lungs and tunneling my vision, my entire body tensing as it slammed through me.
“Holy shit,” he breathed out, my pussy clenching around him and forcing him to join me. He slammed into me one last time before he was filling me with his cum.
“Well, that’s one way to relieve stress,” I joked as I climbed off of him and cleaned myself up before collapsing next to him. He covered us up and snuggled in.
“I’ll take it anytime you need it.” He laughed before his breath evened out. Thankfully, I followed him before my worries could resurface, safe in my mate’s arms.

Leven
“Please tell me you have something, anything. I can’t live like we’re fucking camping anymore,” I said as I rushed into the security office. I was at the fucking end of my rope. It was one thing to have to use camp bathrooms for a day or two, but it was bordering on a week now. There was no word from the vampire archives, and it was dangerous to stay. Everything had gone to shit.
Callum rubbed his temples like I was giving him a headache. “I don’t know, man. We have a few possible locations but most are either too small or just as damaged as the Bluffs. Apparently he likes to leave destruction in his path as well as bodies.”
I sat down with a huff. “Of fucking course he does.”
Hell, it was a miracle we still had our security building. I think the only reason it hadn’t fallen was because it was locked and secured well. They tried to break in, but our reinforced door stood strong. I guess it was worth the extra money for the steel door.
A notification on Callum’s laptop had him scrambling for it and waking it up. He didn’t speak until his secure email was pulled up and opened. Antonio wasn’t playing with his encryptions now.
“He’s escalating, and fast,” Callum said in a somber tone. “The archives are reporting that there’s already over fifty missing vampires and counting.” Bile rose in my throat at the thought. I’d held out hope they could have at least weakened the assholes, but it seemed I was mistaken. Even vampires were no match for their bolstered powers and strength.
“If karma isn’t going to smack him down, we sure as fuck will,” I said. “Anything on the mines?”
“Yeah,” he said, pausing as his eyes scanned the freaking novel they’d written. “Antonio! Pull up a map!” Antonio rushed in from the next room and got to work until the map was on the big screen. “It’s apparently nestled between these towns, and just outside of Gatlinburg, Tennessee.” Callum got up to show us the exact point on the map.
“So if we head for Gatlinburg and find a place to stay, we can attack,” Antonio concluded.
“The vampires have that covered too.” Callum grinned. “There’s a hive, the Silver Blood Hive, right in the city who is expecting us and our allies. They’ve got an immunity to silver, so this is huge.”
“Holy shit,” I breathed out. “That’ll definitely defy their weapons,” I agreed. This was fucking huge.
“They said it looks like an abandoned warehouse but once we cross their barrier it’ll be safe,” Callum explained. “I bet it’s nice as fuck when we get past that too, I’ve never known vampires for living in anything but the richest homes.”
