Dirty and starting to shiver from the combination of her damp hair and the air-conditioning, Andi shouted, “Race you to the shower!”

They tore along the sidewalk then bounded up the squeaky wooden stairs of their porch. She shed clothes in each room between the front door and the bathroom.

By the time they were locked inside together, she wasn’t sure she was going to need the balmy spray of their shower to get warmed up. Simon was looking at her like that again.

Sure enough, by the time he’d finished soaping her up, he had her bent over, palms on the tiled walls as he pounded into her from behind.

“What is it about fucking me in the water that you like so much?” he asked between labored breaths.

She laughed. Right there in the middle of a moment so intense she wouldn’t have imagined it possible the day before. “I’m not sure. Quit chatting and finish the job. Then we can dry off and compare what it’s like to screw in a nice comfy bed.”

“Somehow I think I like this better.” He put his foot on the edge of the tub for additional leverage and drove deeper within her.

By the time they finally crawled into bed together, neither of them had the energy to test out their theory. Besides, there was something about their carefree mating that simply wouldn’t be the same in bright lights and ideal conditions.

Instead, Simon seemed happy to comb the snarls from her hair and put her back together, help her prepare for her reentry into civilization following their walk on the wild side. After he finished untangling her hair, he braided it then nudged her to her stomach.

A decadent massage relaxed her muscles, which were surprisingly sore—either from their trek or the sexual gymnastics she’d been undertaking. After all, he was an expert, trained in keeping athletes at their peak performance. His hands felt divine. But when she offered the repay the favor, he declined.

“Can I just hold you for a while, babe?” he asked.

For a guy usually so committed to motion and activity, it struck her as a deeply affectionate gesture. Maybe this is what she brought him, the ability to be calm—still in both mind and body—for once.

Andi cuddled against his side. She dropped a kiss over his heart, nuzzled her cheek on his shoulder, then embraced him every bit as tightly as he did her.

It was a long time before they drifted off together.
