“You have.” Slater steps up behind Ravi. “You’re not worthy of such a beautiful woman. You have failed her, and I refuse to allow you to take her from me. I’m claiming her as part of the Ice Meadow pack.”
Oh no.
I don’t even have the chance to react as Slater transforms into a wolf. He launches at Ravi. He attacks.
Chapter thirteen
Eliana
Loyalty
Oneofthemisgoing to get killed. The human part of me wants to stand back and see who wins, see if their nature helps take care of the problem arising, but my wolf cries inside. Strange emotions flood through me, heating me up. Tristan fears for Slater and as for Kellan... Whoa. Kellan is concerned for Ravi. He feels some sort of bond with him, and it’s one I feel. Ravi is my alpha after all. I bowed to him. My loyalty sways in his direction, though I try to fight it.
“Stop!” I yell, yanking the blanket away from my body. I spread it out and toss it on Ravi, trying to create a barrier between the two alphas.
Rushing forward, I lock my fingers around Slater’s tail and yank him as hard as I can, getting him to separate from Ravi. I never thought I’d be getting in the middle of two tough alphas, but here I am, standing naked and exposed, yelling at these super sexy men to stop fighting over me.
“You two are not going to make any sort of decision for me. It’s my life.” I hold my hands up, remaining stiff as I flick my gaze from Ravi to Slater. I spot a few more figures in the hallway, and my heart nearly escapes my chest seeing Adam holding up Chase. He looks as if he’s barely hanging on, and the sight of him sends panic through me.
I try to run toward the door, but Ravi blocks my way. Adam shakes his head, trying to get me to stay back. My chest clenches. I can barely see with the tears pooling in my eyes. Anger and sorrow grip at me. I beg myself to keep it together. I can’t put Ravi in his place while I’m crying.
“I’m your alpha, Eliana. Your life is mine to protect. I will not let this asshole try to step in and replace me.” Ravi growls the words through my mind, his wolf fighting to remain in control as he shifts back into a man.
Replace him? My wolf doesn’t want to replace anyone.
A tear splashes my cheek, and I cover my face, hiding the fact that I can’t control myself any longer.
“See what you’ve done! You’ve upset her for no good reason. You have failed your entire pack as an alpha. You should’ve remained a betaborne, Ravi. You don’t have what it takes. No good alpha would have allowed their omega to be stolen, harmed, and left unbonded and pregnant to be claimed by anyone. She is traumatized and needs so much more care than you can properly give. Look at you. Instead of coddling her and reassuring her, you’ve scared her.” Slater squares his shoulders, his body rippling as his eyes flash gold. I appreciate the way he looks as a man, his challenging bravado sending shockwaves right to my clit. My wolf loves it. It’s as if I have the sudden urge to bend over to ask for him to mount me and claim me for himself.
I shake my head, trying to throw away the thought. But it’s too late. Everyone heard it in their minds, because a whole bunch of growling and questions break the silence left by Slater.
“You’re pregnant?” Adam’s whisper cuts through the animalistic noises flooding the room. “How? I mean, I know how. Who? Fuck. Damn. What does this mean?”
I lift and drop my shoulders. I have no idea. I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone, and more and more people find out by the second.
“Everyone out! Give Eliana some space and a chance to clean up. The scents are driving you guys wild, and we need to go somewhere more neutral. This is Slater’s den. This is not an appropriate place to discuss these matters.” Mirabel’s voice snaps through the room, and she slides past Adam and Chase. For being an omega, she sure knows how to command a room, because everyone listens to her immediately. Tristan and Kellan grab their clothes and stride out without question. Ravi and Slater glare at each other but finally give in because Mirabel shoves both of them with her hand planted against their chests.
She scoops up the blanket from the floor and holds it out to me. Wrapping it around my shoulders, she nudges me toward the bathroom.
“Your emotions are especially potent with her pregnancy. Now, go wait in the living room. We will be down shortly. You need to keep it together for her sake. If you don’t get yourselves in control, you will cause irreparable damage to her soul. Do you understand?” Mirabel flicks the two alphas, and they each nod their heads. “I was hoping we wouldn’t have to get to this point and that no one would know, but her mind is far too open right now. That’s another thing we’re going to have to work with. You guys need to stop being overprotective and instead teach her. Guide her. She needs to learn immediately.”
She says it as if they’re going to work together. I have a feeling that’s going to be another fight altogether. Two alphas might not come to an agreement.
“You’re not going to give them a choice, Eliana. They will see. Now, get into the shower and I will be there to help you as soon as I ensure no one is going to rush back in here.” Mirabel offers me a soft smile and waves her fingers at the bathroom. I do as she says, feeling as if she takes half of the weight crushing me onto herself.
I thought I wanted to be like Sloan before, tough and able to survive no matter what. But it’s now that I see that maybe that’s not what I want. I want something more.
“Being an omega doesn’t mean you are weak,” Mirabel says, ensuring the door remains locked. “Being an omega only means that you are far more loved, respected, and adored than you realize. It makes you a true leader. You’ll see.”
I shake my head. “I doubt it.”
She follows me into the bathroom, turning on the shower for me. “Have faith. You were moon chosen for a reason. You need to make your grandmother proud. Make yourself proud.”
If only things were so simple.
“Keep your shoulders straight, your head high, and let them know that whatever they decide, you have the final say. I’ll be with your protectors. I know one of them is severely injured and could use some healing attention. It is best if this conversation remains between two alphas.” Mirabel nudges me toward the archway to the dining room.
A delectable scent, spicy and warm, engulfs me the second I step into the room. My stomach growls at the sight of the food arranged on the table, untouched as Ravi sits across from Slater. They jerk their attention toward me, and each of them stands up and pulls out the chair beside them, seeing where I will choose to sit.
