“I vote for Tatum. She has more intelligence than both you and Govan combined.” Knox smirks at Tatum. “She’ll also keep shit together if we can’t make it back. The donors love her. They’re who are important.”
“You have to fucking take me with you then. I can’t stand around and be Tatum’s little bitch. You know she loves a good power trip. What do you say, Sawyer? You know I’m good for something. I’ll fuck some people up. Watch your back.” Walcott scratches his fingers into the sides of his neck. “The trip sounds like fun.”
“The three of us going is already risky enough. The Bella Crew needs you. They look up to you.” I nod my head and motion to a couple of guys lingering near the front entrance. “You have to keep this place safe. I want somewhere to bring Hayley back to. You got it?”
“Then you better fucking bring me a souvenir or some shit. I’ve never been outside of this hellhole of the city.” Walcott flares his nostrils and slumps his shoulders. “If you don’t, I get a free punch to your damn dick. You got it?”
“And you have to get a vagina tattooed over your belly button for me to poke.” Tatum wags her eyebrows and winks at me with a laugh. She’s so damn twisted. No one compares in creativity.
“Hell no,” I say, shaking my head.
“Fine, then you better get me something good. I want a souvenir too. Bring me someone hot. Or maybe just someone’s really big cock for my collection. I don’t have anything over nine inches yet, and I’m growing disappointed every time we rip a damn pair of pants down to discover lame angry inches. Nub rubs aren’t fun. I want to polish some poles.”
“Jesus Christ, Tate. Stay the fuck away from me.” Walcott covers his groin with his hands protectively. “You are one crazy ass.”
Tatum tips her head back and laughs, her musical voice echoing through the air. “Like I said, I want to polish a damn pole. I know you don’t have something up to my standards behind that zipper. Unless you’ve managed to swap with someone I don’t know and want to prove me wrong.”
Monroe groans and turns his back away. “He can’t prove shit. Now just go fuck each other. Maybe you can work together to keep this place going. We gotta head out.”
“You’re leaving already?” Govan asks, speaking up for the first time. His mind is all over the placesince Arisnow keeps his girl under lock and key. It’s why we negotiated Hayley being able to bring some friends with her when we get her back.
I drape my arm over Govan’s shoulders and give him a little squeeze. “We have no time to waste. Apparently, Lawrence is one fucked up son of a bitch. I’m already worried that he’s done something unforgivable to Hayley.”
“The sooner we leave, the sooner we can get back here. We stayed good on our word to you in the negotiation, Govan. If we get Hayley, we can bring Mya too. Okay?” Knox holds out his fist to Govan. “We always have your back.”
“Fuck yeah. We all have each other. It’s going to be official too.” Monroe bounces on the balls of his feet, curling and uncurling his fingers. When he’s like this, he’s more reactive to things. He is tougher and stronger with his anxiety. Usually, I try to say something to chill him the hell out, but I need the fucker to be as psycho as possible.
“I can’t wait. I swear to fucking hell if you don’t get Hayley, I will take all of your cocks for my collection. I’m counting on you. We all are.” Tatum throws her arms around me and gives me a hug. “You better stay safe, brother.”
I slowly nod my head. It’s the first time she’s ever referred to me as her brother and I like the sound of it more than I thought I would. Tatum has always been my friend, and she is an excellent member of our crew. But when it’s official to be coven members, she will be my sister. It’s been a long time since I’ve had any official family.
“Aww, Tatum’s going soft. I just want to squish her.” Monroe risks losing his fingers by squeezing Tatum’s cheeks. “You don’t have to worry about us, little sis. We’re tough. We’re going to be fine.”
Tatum jerks her hands up and twists Monroe’s wrist, flipping him onto his back before sinking her foot into his gut just hard enough to make him gasp. “Are you sure about that? Look how fast I put you down.”
Monroe chuckles and knocks her off him, sending her to her ass. “Hell yeah. You know I let you do that.”
“Sure, whatever. Just don’t let it happen while you’re out of the city. I mean it. You all need to be safe and bring Hayley back. The new deal can really change things for us.” Tatum gets to her feet and hugs Monroe and Knox next. “And if things turn to shit, you better fucking call. We will figure out a way to get out of this city to save your bitch asses.”
“You got it, Tate.” I scoop up my duffel bag from the ground and swing it over my shoulder. The Aris Hotel car idles outside. The driver has already left, and it’s up to us to get to The Whiskey on our own. Which is fine. We got this.
“Now don’t destroy this place while we’re gone. And stay the fuck out of my room. Got it?” Monroe says, following my gesture and grabbing his shit.
“Aye-aye, Monny. No going in your room.” Tatum smiles. She’s obviously going to fuck with his stuff now.
Before Monroe can respond, I grab him by the back of the jacket and drag him. I motion for Knox to pick up his things to follow.
Reaching the entrance, I bump my fist to a couple of the other crewmembers’ outstretched hands. They don’t say anything as I pull up my hood to shield myself from the sun.
Fuck. This is it. This is the moment that will truly test my power and prove my worth to Hayley.
“Let’s do this. I want our fucking girl back,” Knox says, striding out first.
I step out behind him and head toward the car. “Fuck yeah. We’re going to get her back, and then we’re going to take down all of fucking La Vega.”
Monroe rubs his hands together, a wicked smile crossing his face. “And after that, maybe even the world.”
