“Hold on a minute, Luther,” Zvetari cut in, straightening his body after bending over to help Daeva drink a cup of water. “If you are insistent on doing something this reckless, you can have back up.” He looked at Thaddeus. “How many people can you do this spell on?”

“Uhm well, it’s quite a complex spell, very draining. With the short time frame we have, I’ll only be able to do it once.”

Elias held up a finger. “If you teach it to me, I can do another.”

“Me too,” Lenore added.

“And then that underling you mentioned makes four.” Zvetari nodded his head. “Four is better than one.”

Luther ground his teeth together to refrain from barking out. He didn’t want to waste more time than necessary. “Fine. Let’s get on with it.”

“Man, I look fiiiiiine,”Void sang, staring at his reflection in the mirror as he rotated left and right, admiring his new appearance.

Luther rolled his eyes, already fed up with the shifter.

After a very painful spell that felt like his soul was being ripped out of his body, Luther now looked like one of the fae creatures. His hair was ghostly white, reaching down to his lower back. His ears were tipped with a high point that reminded him of an Elven look. His eyes glowed an ethereal purple that he himself had to admit was quite alluring. His facial features had remained, although they had been slightly altered to be more sculpted and prominent.

Thaddeus had done a remarkable job ensuring they not only looked like the fae, but they also emanated their strange magic and power. Not that they could harness it. Thaddeus was very clear. The Camouflage spell only gave the illusion of the fae and their energy, nothing more.

Void winked at himself and blew himself a kiss, tucking his white hair behind his pointed ears. “I am so gonna get laaaaid,” he said, flexing his muscles.

“We’re not going to get our dicks wet, Void. We’re going to rescue Zamorra. You know, your niece?” Luther shook his head and left the room, heading back for the big amphitheatre where everyone was waiting. He hated the fact that Void was even coming with him, but he wasn’t willing to waste another second. It was time to go.

When they entered the space, the five Ancestral beings were waiting standing in a half circle, each holding one of the blood crystals. Luther stiffened at the two fae creatures standing beside Lenore and Elias, relaxing slightly when he realised they were under a Camouflage spell like he and Void.

Ryker and Thaddeus stood next to them, running their hands through the air around them, magic sparkling at their fingertips.

“Everything good?” Luther asked, coming to a stop at their side.

“Yep. Just doing a final walk through. There’s no way they’ll be able to tell you’re different just by looking at you. If they run their magic over you, maybe. Just don’t give them a reason to suspect you’re anyone else but these creatures.”

Elias stared intently at Ryker as red lightning flickered in the air around him. It made the dark mage squirm uncomfortably, but he continued his work without letting it affect him too much.

Luther pointed a finger at the two fae creatures laced in the spell. “And who are these two?”

“This is Lex, he’s one of mine,” Praxis—the Ancestral Demon—said, placing a black, clawed hand on the shoulder of the one dressed in the bronze battle armour, his voice so deep and guttural that it sounded like he ate rocks for a living.

“And this is Justin. He’s a dark mage,” Elias said, eyes still firmly locked on Ryker.

“Alright. So we got one of each, huh?” Void asked.

Zvetari nodded. “Thought it might be better that way. They both have their own mission and information to obtain. You two will—”

“I won’t be doing anything except rescuing Zamorra,” Luther cut in before he could try to order him to do something else.

“Samesies,” Void agreed. “No offence, Mr OG.” He nodded to Vargas. “I respect the hell out of you, but I’m going to save my niece and that’s it. I want no part in this crazy war you got going on with the fae.”

“You’re already a part of it,” an alluring voice called out from behind the force field to their right.

They all turned to look at the fae who spoke.

“And if you think these silly little gimmicks will fool our king, you’re mistaken. He will see right through it.”

“I hope he does,” Luther admitted, walking over and stopping in front of the force field. “That way ‘llI have an excuse to cut his head from his shoulders and feast on his heart.”

The fae laughed. “You’re no match for him. None of you are. He will destroy you all and bathe in your blood.”
