He smiled and it was a truly terrifying sight. His fangs slowly descended as he withdrew the sword at his back, a zing ringing through the air as he pulled it free from the scabbard. "I'm going to kill you, I'd say that's pretty relevant, wouldn't you?"

She took an involuntary step back at the menace in his voice, lacing his words, fear and confusion coursing through her body. Why the fuck did he want to kill her? She didn't even fucking know him.

Void darted forward to try and get to her side, but the vampires blocked his path and forced him back, preventing him from interfering. Looked like she was on her own. Great.

The odds werenotin her favour. Vampires were naturally stronger and faster than shifters, especially the older ones, which is why she never tried to fight them one on one. Just wasn't smart business. Give her a room full of shifters and she was all good, but vampires? No.

If Zamorra could shift it might not be so bad, but they were in a human populated area with no Glamours. None that she could sense anyway. She couldn't take the risk of someone seeing her and taking a photo or video of her werewolf. She would be put to death if that happened. One of the few things the Council were well known for were their harsh punishments towards those that broke the Exposure Law.

Zamorra wasn't sure, but she'd bet this vampire was old and powerful. Not as old as Luther but still, old enough. Cocky too by the way he slowly approached her, as if he had all the time in the world.

Sounds of a struggle came from behind, Void fighting to get back to her. As much as she wanted to, she couldn't look, couldn't help. She had her own problem to deal with, she just prayed that he would be okay. If she lost him, she didn't know what she would do. Void was the last family she had left.

Concern vibrated from her werewolf and Zamorra stilled. You're worried? That wasn't something Zamorra felt often from her, and it freaked her out a bit.

I don't think you're fast enough.

As if Vampire Zorro could hear their internal discussion, he swung his blade with such speed it whistled through the air, moving so fast she couldn't even see it.

I'm not.

Sweat beaded her forehead, icy cold fear trickling down her spine. A fucking sword? Really? Who the fuck carries a goddamn sword around in the 21st century?

He was only 15 feet from her, getting closer and closer with each slow step he took in her direction.

I have an idea, but you need to give me control, her werewolf said, eyeing the vampire in front of them with caution.

I don't think we'll have any better luck shifted, you're too big.

No, you need to give me control of you.

Zamorra frowned.

Vampire Zorro twirled the blade in his hand, moving it effortlessly around his body, only 10 feet away.

Her expression hardened. What are you talking about? You can do that?

I don't know. But we have to try. You're not fast enough to react to a sword. Just trust me and let go.

Let go?

Zamorra was now in range of that terrifying weapon and he slowly raised his arm, preparing to strike.

"Let go, let go, let go," Zamorra chanted softly, watching that razor sharp sword sail towards her.

Her body locked and then quickly lurched right, her werewolf taking complete control and moving her out of harm's way. The blade cut straight through the air, sparking when it hit the asphalt.

Zamorra stared in shock. "Aha!"

Vampire Zorro snapped his eyes to her, his forehead furrowed. He flicked his wrist up, curving the blade towards her head.

Her eyes widened in surprise and then she was flung back like a stunt double in a harness, smacking into one of the female vampires behind her.

Zamorra knew her werewolf had incredible reflexes, but this was more than anything she thought was possible. It was almost like she had an extra pair of eyes in the back of her head. Like her werewolf could sense when an attack was coming and move Zamorra's body before it hit her. She had her very own personal spidey sense and she fucking loved it. She would have to call it something else though, she had a serious fear of spiders.

Zamorra's hands transformed into the impressive claws of her werewolf and she turned, latching onto the vampire at her back, cutting deep into her skin and making her hiss in pain. Zamorra flung her towards Vampire Zorro and immediately ran for Void, not even bothering to watch as they tumbled to the ground.

Zamorra knew she only had seconds, that's all it would take for the vampires to regroup, but it was all she needed to help even the odds a little bit.
