Zamorra scoffed. "You're my only uncle."
At the club, Luther was very clear about keeping their partnership a secret. But her uncle was here. He already knew about it. Did that mean she could tell him about what was going on? In the end, she decided yes. He was her family. The only one she had left. She trusted him with her life.
"You know about Night Flare, right?"
"The drug you were feining for at Volume?"
"I wasn't feining," she insisted. "I was trying to find out who was dealing it."
"Why?"
Her eyes flicked to Darius. He shrugged his shoulders and looked at Maddox. "Just tell him," Maddox said, looking bored. "He'll probably find out eventually."
That was true. Especially if Void planned to hang around, which she knew he would.
"I was looking for the dealer because whoever's making it is using vampire blood to do it."
"Vampire-" Void frowned, confused. Then shook his head. "No, that can't be right. Everybody knows vampire blood isn't viable outside the body."
"Yeah well, enchanting it with dark magic seems to have fixed that little problem."
Void stared at her in shock. "Dark magic? You're-you're fucking with me, aren't you?"
"Nope," Zamorra replied, popping the 'p'. "They found out someone was dealing it out of Volume and since that's a shifter club-"
"They needed you to get in," he finished.
She smiled. "I don't know why mum used to tease you so much. You are pretty smart."
Void scoffed, rolling his eyes. "It's because that woman lived to torture me." He blew out a breath and ran his fingers through his hair. "You've been a busy one, haven't you? First, you give a pledge of servitude to avampireno less, then you go on some covert mission like one of your characters in that weird Star Trek show you like so much."
"Stargate," she corrected.
"Is there anything else you need to tell me?"
Zamorra went to speak and then stopped. She pursed her lips, thinking. "I don't think-"
"Ahhhh!" Maddox shrieked.
Navi materialised a hair's breadth away from Maddox's face, a mischievous smile on her lips.
"Shit." Maddox jumped back, startled. "What the fuck is a pixie doing here?"
Navi zoomed forward, her tiny wings flapping a million miles an hour. She blew a handful of pixie dust in Maddox's face, making him sneeze. She gave an evil smirk before disappearing from sight.
"Wha-" Maddox frantically wiped at his face and sneezed again. "Hey! What did you-achoo!"
Green warts sprouted up all over his face and down his neck, spreading quickly like some sort of infectious disease. Tiny red pimples began to slowly appear on his cheeks and chin, nose and forehead, oozing disgusting white puss and wafting a terrible smell their way. His face was almost entirely covered, hardly any ounce of clear skin left.
Zamorra sucked in a breath, her eyes the size of saucers. She knew pixies loved to torment others. It was a common trait they all shared, and boy did Navi have it in spades.
Darius cursed, looking at Maddox with worry while Void hunched over, slapping his knees and laughing erratically.
"What?" Maddox asked, his eyes darting between the three of them. "What are you all looking at?"
"Mad," Darius spoke slowly, with a calm voice, walking with his palms up like he was approaching a feral dog. "Don't freak out."
"Why-" Maddox breathed in sharply. "Why would I freak out?"
