Page 61 of Alpha Power

"I'd love to see you try, bloodsucker."

Power flooded the air as light brown fur started to grow up the length of Void's arms, his hands transforming into razor-sharp claws at the same time. With a powerful snap, Void broke free and pushed off the ground.

Luther flew backwards, his shoes skidding along the ground as he tried to stop his body's momentum. A terrifying growl escaped Luther's lips, his blazing red eyes locking onto Void with determination and malice as he stood to his full height, his body tensed and ready.

Void crouched low, his extremities covered in the light brown fur of his werewolf, eyes blazing bright gold as he stared Luther down.

This was not good. Not good! She couldn't let this escalate any further. She needed to put a stop to it, now. Before one of them ended up dead.

"Goddamn guys, cut it out!"

Her words fell on deaf ears as Luther and Void lunged at each other. They moved so fast she was barely able to see them, needing to pull power from her werewolf to heighten her senses. It was like a dance. Whenever one would strike, the other just managed to slip away, avoiding the attack altogether before they retaliated with their own. Void slashed left and right, his curved claws hitting nothing but open air. Luther tried to use his long legs to his advantage, striking out with a high kick to Void's face.

Void ducked underneath and followed through with an uppercut, hitting Luther in the chin. Luther stumbled back, surprised. Scowling, Luther advanced with a spinning roundhouse kick, hitting Void centre in the chest.

Void grunted, his face contorting in pain as he flew backwards and landed in a heap 100m away.

Now was her chance. If she didn't get in between them now, she would be attending someone's funeral. She was sure of it.

Give me all you have, she commanded, sprinting towards them.

Power pulsed through her, flooding her entire system with ancient magic. Her body heated, the thick silver fur of her werewolf spilling out over her skin as she ran with earnest. Luther and Void only had eyes for each other, barely paying attention to her as she came skidding to a halt between them.

"Stop!" She yelled, thrusting her hands out.

They ran smack into her palms and she pushed, using all of her strength to force them away from each other. Their bodies hurled through the air, Void smashing into their parked car leaving a massive indent in the door and Luther crashing through a store window, the sound of glass shattering ringing into the empty street.

"Shit," she breathed in shock, eyes wide. She hadn't intended to use that much force. She just wanted to get them away from each other. She certainly did not mean to throw Luther through a plate glass window like a rock.

Void slowly got to his feet, shaking his head to try and clear the daze. He narrowed his eyes at her, and she gave an awkward smile. Luther stepped up onto the window frame, wiping shards of glass from his suit and hair. He jumped down to the ground, a frown on his face.

"I didn't mean-"

A piercing alarm rang through the air, making all three of them wince. She covered her ears, speed walking to her uncle's side despite the angry look on his face.

"What are you doing here?" She hissed, trying to keep her voice low.

"What am I doing here? What are you doing here? And with a goddamn bloodsucker?!"

"I-"

"That's none of your business," Luther cut in, coming to a stand next to her.

Void tensed. "She's my niece. Everything to do with her is my goddamn business, fanger."

Luther's fangs snapped free, his eyes blazing red. "Not anymore."

"You-"

"Quit it!" She barked. "We don't have time for this. We need to get out of here before the human authorities show up."

The alarm blaring into the night belonged to the store Luther had just crashed into, which meant the police were probably already on their way. They may be under the protection of the Glamour spells currently surrounding DeVos, but she didn't want to take the risk of exposure. The penalties were too severe.

Animosity lingered in the air as Luther and Void scowled at one another, like they'd love nothing more than to rip each other's faces off.

She clicked her fingers inches from their faces. "We need to go, now."

Angry red and gold eyes snapped her way before they both gave a terse nod. Luther moved first, keeping his eyes on her as he opened the passenger side door of his now dented SUV.
