Thaddeus said the spell would last for 24 hours. How long had it been already? Surely time was almost up.
"Does it really matter? You know it's me under all this."
"Yes," he gritted between clenched teeth. "It does matter."
A knock at the door made them both turn and Luther barked "enter."
Zamorra rolled her eyes and collapsed back onto the bed, exhaling a breath of annoyance as Maddox opened the double doors.
"I apologise for interrupting, my Lord-"
"You're not interrupting." Zamorra cut in, twinkling her fingers and saying 'hello.' "Nothing was gonna happen anyways," she grumbled.
"It's Zvetari, my Lord. He's sent a request for your presence," Maddox said, keeping his eyes plastered to the floor.
Luther stopped pacing and looked to the ceiling in exasperation. "When?"
"Now, my Lord."
"Of course," he mumbled under his breath. He marched over to Zamorra and gripped her cheeks with a thumb and finger, smushing her lips together. "Do not, and I'm going to say this again because you have a tendency to ignore my orders,do notleave the mansion. Not until I return. Do. You. Understand. Me?" He punctuated the last sentence slowly, his voice deep and full of power.
"Yesh shir," she mumbled between her squished cheeks, trying hard not to laugh.
Luther narrowed his eyes in mistrust and Zamorra rolled her eyes again.
She pushed his hand away from her face. "I swearsies, alright?" Dhe said, giving a two finger salute. "I got nowhere to be anyways."
Luther grunted and headed for the doorway where Maddox stood waiting.
"You might wanna change your jacket!" She yelled as he walked out, stretching her long limbs and getting comfy.
Time to go back to sleep.
"Zamorra. Zamorra, wake up. Now."
Her eyes snapped open at the powerful command, seeing her mother staring down at her with tears in her chocolate brown eyes.
"Mum? Wha-what do you want? Go away, I'm sleeping," she groaned, rolling over.
Adele gripped her shoulder tightly and yanked her back around. "Get up, now. Quickly."
"It's the middle of the night. I don't want-"
"Don't argue!" Adele snapped, grabbing her arms and pulling her from the bed viciously. "We need to go."
Zamorra stumbled on her feet, following her mother's lead with no resistance. Confusion raked her mind and pain flared from the impenetrable grip her mother had on her arm.
"Ow. For fucksake, Mum you're hurting me. What the hell is going on?"
Adele dragged Zamorra along like a puppet on a string. Straight through her bedroom, into the hallway, down the stairs and into their small lounge area, ignoring all of her questions and running with a sense of urgency Zamorra had never seen before.
"It's too late!" Orion, her father shouted as he came barrelling into the room a moment later, slamming the door shut behind him.His brown eyes flashed bright gold and he ran to the three-seater couch centred in the middle of the room, gripping it tightly with both hands, sinking his curved claws deep into the fabric. He flipped it up with ease and used it to barricade the door."They're already here. Quick, grab anything you can. Help me block the door," he commanded roughly.
Adele let go of Zamorra and bolted to the other side of the room. With an aggressive pushshe shoved the TV off the unit it sat on and it smashed on the ground.
Orion jogged over and gripped one side of the unit while Adele grabbed the other and they manoeuvred it over to the door, pushing it flush against the couch.
"Will someone tell me what the fuck is going on here?!" Zamorra yelled, watching her parents chuck every piece of furniture in the room against that door.
