Luther nodded, satisfied that she wasn't going to argue with him anymore. His eyes strayed behind her. "Let's go, Thaddeus. We have a body to inspect."
Zamorra swerved just in time to watch Luther walk out of the room.
Thaddeus smiled mischievously and clicked his fingers. The magic holding Maddox and Darius in place disappeared instantly.
Maddox dropped, collapsing right on top of Darius with a grunt and making air shoot out of the vampire’s lungs.
"What the fuck?!" Darius croaked. "Get off me. You weigh a ton," he grumbled, shoving Maddox off.
Maddox rolled onto his back and sat up, shaking his head with disorientation. He looked around the room and frowned. "What happened?" He locked eyes with Thaddeus and growled. "You," he snarled. "Did you use magic on me?"
Thaddeus smiled brightly and Maddox jumped to his feet, enraged.
"I've told you before not to use your magic on me," Maddox berated, his face turning red with anger.
Thaddeus shrugged, unfazed, and it served to only make the vampire angrier.
"So much drama in this place," Void whispered, a smile slowly gracing his lips. "I love it."
"You would," Zamorra said, rolling her eyes. "You're a damn drama whore."
The sound of a chair scraping across the floor caught their attention. Clearing his throat, Axel got to his feet, buttoning up his suit jacket. "Alright. Now, which one of you delinquents stole my walkie talkies?"
"Are you sure you want to do this, mia signora?"Thaddeus asked as he moved to the far side of the room. He poured himself a drink and made his way back over, humour dancing in his eyes. "Luthy will not be pleased."
Yeah, well what else was new?
Luther was beyond adamant that she not attend the Regent Meeting tonight. He made that very clear last night at dinner, afterwards when they all went to inspect Kylo's lifeless body in the lab, and again this morning when he left to attend said meeting.
"Don't you even think about leaving the manor today," he all but growled on his way out, to which she replied with a salute and a 'aye aye captain.'
Of course she had every intention of going to that meeting. Nothing was going to stop her. Not Luther's tiresome threats, not the guards he assigned to follow her around all day and certainly not the fear coursing through her veins at finally putting a face to the man that ruined her life. She was determined to go no matter what and fortunately for her, Thaddeus was willing to help.
"Yes. I'm sure," she replied, reclining back in her chair and kicking her feet up.
If she was going to do this, she desperately needed the mage’s assistance. More specifically, his magic. Having a bounty on her head and walking into a room filled with dangerous supernatural’s was just asking for trouble.
Thaddeus smirked and took a sip of his drink. "Alright then. Let’s get to it. Have you decided what type of shifter you'd like to be?"
"Oh, oh. Can you make her a dung beetle?" Void cut in, his eyes firmly plastered to the TV in front of him. "Or better yet, a skunk! Make her a skunk."
"Will you shut up?!" Zamorra snapped, picking up a remote and lobbing it at his head.
"Ow! Zo!"
"Ignore him." She adjusted back into her seat. "Can you make me a mage? I've always wanted to be a mage."
Thaddeus frowned. "That would require a camouflage spell."
"Okay? Do you need like some sort of special ingredient or somethin' to make it work? Like the heart of a virgin or a bone from a newborn baby?"
"Do I look like some voodoo priestess?" He scowled.
Zamorra blinked. "Voodoo's real?"
The mage scoffed. "You'll be surprised what's real in this world. Anyway, I can do the camouflage spell but it'll be extremely painful. For you anyway."
That didn't sound good. Not at all.
