A small part of Zamorra wondered if that was why Luther had her run the house. Not only because she was good at it, but because she loved taking care of people too.

"Where's Boss Man? Don't tell me you pissed him off again."

Zamorra tensed at Darius' words and she narrowed her eyes at the smartass vampire. "What do you mean, again?"

Maddox scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Please. We all know you're responsible for the foul mood he's been in lately."

Her eyes snapped to Maddox and she growled low in her throat.

They were trying to blameherforhisbitchy ass mood? He could have handled that situation a hundred different ways! He could have included her in it, she would have played along and made it even more believable. He could have just told her straight up, they needed to ease up for a bit. Again, she would have been agreeable.

Instead, he chose to cut her out completely and sulk like a bratty rich girl being told to pour her own damn coffee for the first time.

"Look, I'll admit I like to rile the dude up but I'm not responsible for his mood swings. We're not boyfriend and girlfriend. Shit, we're not even fucking-

"Yuck," Void said, scrunching up his face.

"Tell me how his bratty attitude is my fault?"

"Look, allIknow is after your little date at DeVos, he was promoted to President of Grumpston City," Maddox said as he picked up a blood bag and ripped it open with his fangs. He took a big slurp and his eyes flashed red.

"That wasn't because of me!"

Luther's deep, husky voice fluttered through her mind.Over the last few days, I've come to suspect she may have a spy in my inner circle.

An idea quickly flourished in her mind and she eyed the vampires surrounding her. "We ran into this woman there. Oh fuck, what was her name again? Lucy? Loren? Leah?"

"Leilani?" Maddox asked, raising his brows.

Zamorra clicked her fingers. "That was it. Maybe it was ’cause of her."

Her gaze travelled around the room, looking for any sign of unease. Roman and Axel continued to eat as if she hadn't even spoken.

Ophelia had been annoyingly quiet since she arrived, which was disappointing. Zamorra was actually hoping for a little bit of a confrontation for once. She was in the mood to throw a few punches, but the vampire wasn't even looking her way. No death glare. No bitchy attitude. Nothing. Her green eyes were plastered to the half empty plate in front of her as she pushed food around with her fork.

"That actually makes sense," Darius agreed. "He always gets crabby whenever she pops up."

Zamorra picked up a huge cut of bacon and egg pie and shoved it into her mouth. It was good, but nothing could compare to her mother's cooking. "What's the story with those two?" She asked around the mouthful of food.

It angered her to even ask the question. Truth be told, she didn't really want to know anything about their relationship, past or present. But she was hoping that by talking about Leilani so casually, the spy in Luther's ranks would drop their guard and reveal themselves.

Darius sucked air in between his teeth. "Can't tell ya that, kiddo. Was before my time. But maybe Gigantor will tell you. Oi, Sasquatch!" He picked up a fry and chucked it right at Roman.

Roman caught the fry between two thick fingers without even looking up from his overflowing plate. He turned his head slowly and glared.

Quicker than The Flash, Roman grasped his knife and hurled it straight down the table. The small blade soared, whistling through the air seconds before it pierced Darius' shoulder with such force he was flung back in his chair.

"Shit!" The vampire cursed as he tumbled to the ground.

"Ha!" Void laughed, adding more food to his plate with tears in his eyes. He grabbed a handful of boiled eggs and popped them into his mouth, one by one until he couldn't fit any more.

Darius sat up and scowled from his position on the floor. He wrapped his fingers around the knife and yanked it out with a grimace.

"Owwww," he growled, annoyed.

"You know I do not engage in gossip," Roman grunted.

"Then a simple 'no' would have done the trick," Darius snapped, getting to his feet. He looked down at the hole in his dark buttoned-up shirt and frowned. "This was my favourite shirt," he grumbled with sadness.
