She tapped her nose and winked.

"My Lord," Darius greeted, bowing his head. "Axel is in his tech room awaiting your arrival." His eyes flicked to Void, and he raised his brows in surprise.

"Are we taking in strays now?" Ophelia asked, annoyed. Her eyes ran up and down Void's body, a troubled expression on her face.

"Remember the warning you've been given. I will not repeat myself," Luther warned, walking towards the front door.

Ophelia straightened; her eyes lit with fire as she nodded with clenched teeth. "Yes, my maker."

"Good." Luther pointed to Void. "Eyes on him at all times. He's not to be left unattended."

Void smirked. "What's the matter, bloodsucker? Afraid I'll steal your million-dollar cufflinks?"

"Would you even know what to do with them if you did?"

Void looked at Luther blankly. "They're cufflinks. Pretty self-explanatory."

"Mmm. You never know. Some people are dumber than they look." Luther arched an eyebrow, looking at Void with a humorous expression before he turned and walked away, Ophelia and Roman falling into line behind him.

"You're dumber than you look," Void grumbled.

"We both know that's not true," Luther called out from inside the house, his voice fading into the background.

"I really, really hate him."

Zamorra looked at her uncle, finding his whiny tone and childish behaviour amusing. Void could be overwhelming at times. He was unbelievably protective, a bit trigger happy, he was very quick to sort out an issue with his fists instead of his words, and he was also extremely temperamental. But whenever he came to visit, she forgot all about that and just enjoyed his company.

Some of her fondest memories were of her uncle. The times when he would sneak her out late at night for some ice cream, something her mother never let her do. It went against one of the countless rules she had to follow growing up. Or when he helped pull pranks on her father. Her favourite was when they sewed hot pink rhinestones onto all of his clothes, including his work uniform. Even his hardhat and steel-capped boots weren't safe. Imagine a 6'4, 150kg man rocking up to a construction site covered head to toe in hot pink rhinestones. Hilarious, right? She thought so too.

"Hey Z, who's the old man?"

"O-old?!" Void repeated, aghast.

"This is my uncle, Void Vatali. Uncle, this is Darius and Maddox, members of Luther's Elite Guard."

"And the creepy old woman staring at me through the window?"

Zamorra peered into the house, seeing Margaret staring at them intently. "Oh, that's just Margaret. Don't worry, she's harmless."

"I doubt that." Void looked at Maddox and Darius. "Fangers," he greeted, nodding his head slightly.

"Shifter," they both replied at the exact same time.

Zamorra sighed, shaking her head. "I literally just told you all names."

"I like mine better."

"Of course you do," she said, rolling her eyes. She looked at Darius. "So, what happened? Luther said there was another body?"

Darius nodded, his body riddled with nerves. "Not just one. This time, it was a massacre. Five confirmed dead, their whole bodies drained entirely of blood. Some of them were even missing their limbs, it was like a goddamn bloodbath in there."

"Shit," Zamorra cursed. One thing she knew for sure about Luther was that he loved his people. It would be killing him that they were dying, suffering, and there wasn't anything he could do about it. "What's gonna happen now?"

"My guess? After Axel debriefs the Boss Man with all the details, he'll want to go and check out the crime scene."

"I'd be ready, Zamorra. With your super nose he'll probably want you there. You might be able to pick up a scent," Maddox added.

Void tapped her on the shoulder. "Care to share with your favourite uncle?"
