“You’ve already met Darius and Maddox,” Luther continued as the vampire playboys both gave her a wink. “And lastly we have Axel.”

Axel inclined his head her way. “Miss Solaris,” he said in a cold, dead tone. His eyes watched her intently and his hand moved to grasp the knife at his waist. He didn’t pull it out, just touched it, like he was getting ready in case she decided to attack them all.

She wasn’t offended. She was the stranger here, so she didn’t blame him for being cautious. Before she could reply, Darius cut in.

“Can I see your wolf?”

Zamorra blinked, surprised. “What?”

“Your wolf, can I see it? I’ve never seen a female werewolf before.” He hopped up and down in his chair like an excited kid at a candy store.

Zamorra ran her eyes around the room. The other vampires were all giving her curious looks.

She wasn’t surprised that they hadn’t seen a female werewolf before. There weren’t many to start with, and they were always restricted to their territory. The males wouldn’t risk something happening to the few females they had.

Zamorra never lived with a pack, but her parents had. They told her all the horror stories about what it was like to be a female werewolf in a male dominated pack, and it was worse than hell. In a pack with over 30 males, there were only seven females. Which meant they shared them, whether they wanted it or not. Her mother didn’t want the same fate for her, and she ran as soon as she found out she was pregnant, never looking back.

Zamorra’s stomach rumbled, reminding her that she hadn’t eaten breakfast yet. Letting her werewolf out while hungry and cranky wasn’t a good idea, especially around others.

Come onnn,her werewolf whined.I won’t eat anyone, I swear.

Like you swore we wouldn’t fall asleep if we tested the bed?

Her werewolf grumbled.

Exactly.

Zamorra looked into Darius’ deep brown eyes. “Sorry, it's probably not a good idea right now.”

He pouted. “Oh, come on! Just one look.” The other vampires stared at her like she was an animal at the fucking zoo, and it irked her.

“Nope, can’t do it. Sorry.”

Darius leaned back in his chair, pursing his lips. “It’s alright, I get it. It must be scary for you to shift in front of a room full of vampires. What if we pinky swear not to hurt you, darling?” He said with a sly smile.

Zamorra tensed. She narrowed her eyes. “I’m not scared.”

“Sure you’re not sweetheart,” Darius teased. “It’s okay, I used to get scared sometimes too. Don’t worry, you’ll grow out of it when you get a bit older.”

Maddox and Ophelia joined in on the teasing, cracking jokes and laughing when Darius started flinching like he was scared of getting hit or something.

Zamorra could feel the anger rising within her.

Can I bite his head off?

“No, you cannot bite his head off,” Zamorra growled.

Darius choked on a laugh. “What?” He croaked, his face paling.

“What?”

“You-you just said ‘No, you can’t bite his head off.’”

Zamorra looked around the room. “No, I didn’t.”

“Yes. You did.”

Zamorra shrugged. “I wasn’t talking to you.”
