I melt into his lips.
Then, I break us apart.
“Careful,” I tell him. “You’ll get us caught.”
“Stop being so hard to resist then,” he tells me.
I didn’t expect Rex when I came on this retreat.
I just thought it was going to be another trip with my parents. Another retreat. Same old same old.
And now?
He’s got me believing in miracles after all.
Epilogue
Six Months Later
Rex
This is absolutely fucking crazy.
When I met Faith on that retreat, I didn’t expect to fall in love with her. I didn’t expect to “clean up my act” as my mother would say. I didn’t expect for my life to totally turn upside down.
Somehow, I have become the straight-laced one in our relationship.
Not that Faith can keep up with any of the shit that I pulled.
I mean, no DUIs.
No robberies.
But, that girl wants to try everything.
And I am along for the ride.
But today?
Today I am about to try the absolute craziest fucking thing of all.
I knock at Faith’s apartment door.
She opens and I nearly lose my breath. Her beautiful hair is pulled to one side of her body, leaving one side of her neck naked and free. She’s wearing more makeup than usual, but still not too much that she looks fake.
And she’s wearing this stunning black dress that drops all the way to the ground.
“Hi baby,” she tells me, then leans in and kisses me.
“You look incredible,” I tell her, trying not to sound nervous. “Are you ready to go?”
“Yes,” she says, and follows me to the car.
I don’t say much on the car ride. I’m concentrating on the road and trying to calm myself down. Faith has a lot to tell me, though, so I listen and react in ways that doesn’t make her suspicious. Finally, I pull up to our destination.
Faith looks up and looks around. “Wait, where are we?”
“Hang on, let me get your door,” I tell her.
