I looked at the spread of unhealthy shit on the table.
“You never ever thought that I was picking up all of that shit at the store for you. Your ass is going to be on fire.”
“Diesel,” she called my name low, yet stern, with a stoic look on her face. “You are going to let me have this tonight. I got up and trekked to get this.”
“Ah, so thirty feet is a trek now?”
“Tomorrow, I will go and get healthy snacks. Tonight, I am having unhealthy snacks. My taste buds have been crying out for hours now.”
“And what if my baby doesn’t like it?”
“We won’t know unless we try.”
“Grey.”
She opened the bag of chips and then the Nutella.
“Grey, please don’t do that.”
She dipped the chip in the Nutella.
“That is going to be disgusting.”
My face automatically scrunched up when she put it in her mouth. She closed her eyes, chewing slowly.
“Jesus, Grey.” I looked away.
“Oh my God. So salty and sweet. Wow.”
I thought she was doing that out of spite, but she did it again.
“You’re actually enjoying that?”
“Yes.”
“I’m not going to get used to your weird cravings, that’s for sure.”
“I don’t think I will either.”
“Yeah, so what’s this about you and Quinci telling my mom to be a hot girl?”
“A hot girl!” She laughed so hard that she almost got choked herself. “What do you know about being a hot girl?”
“Greysen, you don’t think I listen to music?”
“No. Not that type of music. I am very tickled. Your mom needs some excitement in her life. That will for sure straighten your dad’s ass up.”
“Well, whenever you need some excitement, you better take your ass to the theme park.”
She laughed, but I was dead ass serious. I’d always believed in love and always knew it was a real thing, but I never thought that I’d experience it. Greysen was beautiful inside and out. She made me laugh and even cry a couple times. She was the mother of my child and future children. I was going to marry her one day. I was thirty-seven years old and in love for the very first time. Life was crazy as fuck.
