Page 185 of Captivated By Danger

As the days went by, I believe Chef Nita had saved me from plenty of bad decisions. There was a time during those drunken stupors, I was thinking of going to Chokers, but I’d promised my girl that I wasn’t going to fuck anyone else. In this world, all I got is my word and I wouldn’t have made it this far in life if I wasn’t a man of my word. Even though Grey would have never found out about it, I’d know. If she would have asked, I probably would have lied and then I’d feel like an ain’t shit nigga because I prided myself on being an honest person, and Grey had already had her fair share of ain’t shit niggas in her life. I was going to do whatever I had to do to make this work with her.

“Greysen McCree,” the nurse called from the door.

She stood up slowly, grabbing my hand. She held my hand tightly as we walked through the door. The nurse led us to a room and started taking Grey’s vitals. She barely let my hand go through the whole process. She was terrified and so was I, honestly, but I couldn’t show any fear because I wanted her to be secure. Once the woman was gone, Greysen got on the table and laid back.

“What if it’s twins?” she asked and then laughed. “That’s what Elle and Quinci said because your brother didn’t have twins. Are y’all like connected, how they say twins be?”

“Me and Declan are about as different as different can be. The only thing we did was share a womb. We’re close, but not like that, meaning we talk a lot, but I don’t know many of his deepest darkest secrets. I’ll give him my kidney if he needed it though. I’d fuck somebody up about him, or any of my siblings to be honest.”

“Awe, that’s kinda sad. Why not? If I had twins, I would want them to have a bond that’s unbreakable.”

I shrugged my shoulders. “We do have an unbreakable bond. He is my brother. Okay, I’ll say this if he had an issue, I wouldn’t be his first call. That’s all.”

“Oh, I see. So, what is the main difference between y’all? I literally don’t see any difference.”

“There is no difference. Well, he got Donovan and Winter’s name tattooed on him. Our swag outside of our suits are a little different, but he hardly wears them since he been living here.”

“See, the country does do a body good. I wish I had siblings though. Well, Perris was supposed to be like my sister/cousin, but you know, so I’m hoping to have like three or four kids, hopefully. I’m twenty-seven now, so I think I want to be done having them all by like thirty-five.”

“Whoa. Shit. Well. Can we get this one out first? Shit. Thinking about tuitions and birthdays and every other fucking thing they are going to want and need for four kids will make me throw up right here.”

She grinned. “Seriously? It’s not like you can’t afford it, Dieseee.”

“Affording it isn’t the issue, Babygirl. Being emotionally and physically present for four kids will be taxing for both me and you, especially for a woman who says that she doesn’t want a nanny. Although I think you don’t want a nanny because you fear that I might fuck her or something along the lines of that.”

“Men can be nannies, too,” she sassed.

“And you know ain’t no nigga looking after my kids.”

“And I’m the one that’s jealous?”

“Touché. You gon’ fuck around and get me hot up in here,” I said, shuddering at the thought of another man getting close to my kids.

“Looking at you all jealous and stuff is making me hot and bothered. Oooo.” She danced her fingers up my arm.

“Now you doing all that but will be running from the dick like you been doing all week.”

“Because you been taking your thirty day fast out on my pussy and she ain’t done nothing, but what you told me and that’s stay away from you for a year.”

“I got a feeling you not about to let me live that down. I just did what I thought was best.”

“Of course, you did.”

She looked up at the ceiling and I could tell that her nerves were starting to set it. Any idle moment and she would unravel.

“Are you okay? How are you feeling?”

“Yes. I’m just very nervous.”

There was a knock on the door before it came open.

“Oh my goodness, Greysen,” the doctor said as soon as she walked in. “I can’t believe that you’re…oh,” she paused when she noticed me. “Hi. Hello. Dr. York.”

She looked from me to Greysen and then back to me while shaking my hand.

“So, I have some good news. You are pregnant.”

“When people say they have good news, they usually follow that up with bad news too,” Grey said.
