Another dude approached him. “Come on, Aaron. Let’s go to the dorms.”

Aaron. Unapproved.

I wondered how Diesel knew him and why he was unapproved. He looked like a regular college kid. He was dressed in a pair of jeans, a shirt, and a blazer— harmless.

“Yeah, let me finish working the room real quick.”

He smiled and winked at me before letting his friend pull him away. As soon as he moved out of my sight, I noticed Jeff walking by.

“Look, Ariel. Jeff is one of those rich men. I heard he’s nice,” Sutton said.

“Ooo. And heisfine.”

And I’ve seen him naked,is what I wanted to say out loud, but decided to keep it to myself.

“He actually makes me think about my last man. He was so fucking fine. Tall and dark brown skin. I wish I could say his name, but he was the shit. So many clothes. All I literally had to do was fuck him. That’s it, and…”

I started to zone out. Suddenly, my heart started to thump in my ears because she had to be talking about Diesel. I was sure that there were a million tall, dark, and handsome men in New York, but God would make one of Diesel’s women run into me. I was sure that it was just a subtle reminder to not fall for that man and to continue counting down my days until he was done with me. As if I didn’t already know she was talking about Diesel, there was no room for doubt when she talked about the two gifts her man gave her at the end. She was in the middle of talking about a trip to China when I had to cut her off before I threw up.

“What kind of drinks are those over there? Do they have wine or something?”

“Yeah, some cheap shit. I got a stamp on my hand, so they can’t serve me anything,” Ariel said.

“I’m about to go grab me something to drink and maybe talk to a few more people I’ve noticed in here.”

“Cool. I won’t be going anywhere for a while,” Ariel responded.

I had to get away from them so I could finally catch a breath. I was thankful that my little tracker thing was hidden by my bracelets because I would have been embarrassed if she’d recognized me as one of Diesel’s girls. He probably used that ‘you’re the first girl I’ve ever had dinner with’ line on all of his girls to get them to relax for him. I couldn’t stand him.

“Champagne is all we have,” the bartender said once I approached the table.

“That’s fine.”

He filled my chute and handed it to me.

“Thank you.”

“Finally, I got you alone. Greysen, was it?” Aaron said, approaching me.

I smiled before taking a sip of my drink.

“What brings you here from Florida? You’re a long way from home.”

“Yes. Columbia offered me an opportunity I couldn’t refuse.”

“Oh, nice. You stay on campus?”

“No. Is your girlfriend here?”

He chuckled. “Why you asking about her?”

“No reason.”

Now, I could see why Diesel had him on the unapproved list because he was annoying. Although, I still wanted to know how he knew him before I knew his name. My phone vibrated in my purse and somehow, I just knew that it was Diesel. I rolled my eyes when his name popped up. I didn’t even read the text; I just closed my clutch.

“Your man pissing you off like that?”

“You’ll be surprised,” I said before throwing the rest of my drink back.
