“You went scouting already? Thought you were going to give yourself a few months after that crazy bitch, Rachel.”

“Normally, I do, but it was something about her eyes that drew me to her, but now, I feel like I made a mistake.”

“Why? What happened?”

I chuckled while shaking my head. “She twenty-six—”

“Shit, Diesel. You never go more than ten years younger. What the hell is your problem?”

“I know. Dad. I know. I fucked up. The moment I found out her age, I should have left her alone. Her eyes pulled me in. And then at dinner, how she negotiated my manual against me… telling me that she wants to sleepsleepin the bed with me and to kiss her outside of the scenes, and if I couldn’t do that, she’d start putting some shit on the hard no list. I’d been doing this for a long damn time, and I’d never had anyone to negotiate my manual that way. That should have been my other reason to say no.”

“Just be cool and get ahold of yourself. They all start off different before they end up the same.”

“Yeah, you right. I was just tripping off that for a minute. Yeah, but back to you. You good over there?”

“Yeah. Just being alone in this big house puts a lot of shit in perspective for me. That’s all.”

“I bet. Alright, I’m turning in to work. I’ll get back with you,” I said and ended the call.

Whenever I needed to get my head on straight, I’d call my dad. That girl has had me on edge for the last few days. Pulling into my normal parking spot, I killed the engine and stepped out the car.

Shake that shit off. You’re Diesel mothafuckin’ Danger.

GREYSEN

The moment the elevator doors closed, I stood there for a few moments, hoping that they’d open back up and he’d come crash his lips against mine. His kiss was on the top of the list of things that I’d already loved about him. My shoulders dropped when the doors didn’t slide back open. I took that as an opportunity to start to explore his house. As soon as I took a few steps away from the elevator, I heard the ding again, making me do an about-face. When the doors slid back open, my smirk slowly diminished when I saw it was the man who drove us here. He’d had our bags on a cart and rolled it in the room.

He grinned. “Sorry, I’m not who you wanted to see, Ms.”

“Mhmm. It’s okay. He drove away?”

“Yes. He mostly drives himself.”

“Oh. I see.”

“Anywhere particular you would like for me to put your bag, Ms.?”

“No. You can leave it there. I don’t even know where I’ll be sleeping. And it’s Greysen, but you can call me Grey. Thank you.”

He nodded his head. “No problem, Ms.”

I grabbed at my purse. “I should tip you. Hold on…”

He shook his head as he backed toward the elevator. “No, Ms. It’s fine. Mr. Danger pays me well.”

Taken aback, I replied, “Ah, heisgood for something.”

He chuckled under his breath before pushing the button for the doors to close. His living room was massive and looked nothing like a bachelor pad. The TV on the wall was damn near big enough to be hung in a stadium so the people in the nosebleed seats could see the game. Before stepping on the carpet, I slipped out of my shoes. The carpet was so freaking soft. It felt as if I was walking on a billion cotton balls. I knew something like that was way out of my price range. I made sure to dig my feet in the carpet as I walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows. Sighing at the beautiful skyline before me, I couldn’t believe that this would be my life for the next six weeks. The people below looked like little dots moving around and the cars looked like racecars.

The open kitchen floorplan was full of stainless-steel appliances. It looked like it hadn’t been cooked in. They were so shiny that I could see my reflection in them. When I opened the refrigerator, I rolled my eyes.

“Typical,” I mumbled.

One side of the fridge was stockpiled with nothing but water, some fruit, a few vegetables, and a carton of eggs. I’d almost forgotten that he wanted me to work out.For enduranceis what he’d said.

“What the hell am I supposed to eat,” I hissed as I was closing the door.
