When the doors opened, she gasped.

“Wow, this is so beautiful, Diesel. Wow. I am literally at a loss for words.”

She stepped off the elevator while I stayed on, holding the door open.

“Thanks. Mona will be here in a few.”

She turned around and looked up at me.

Those fucking eyes.

“You’re not staying? To at least show me around this palace in the sky.”

“No. I have to go. I told you that.”

“But…” she looked at the floor and then back at me. “But we just got here.”

I hated how that innocent act turned me the fuck on. Goddamn, I needed to get away from her.

“Wait,” she said as the doors were getting ready to close.

I put my hand in the door. “What.”

She twisted her lips up like she didn’t really want to ask.

“I’m pressed—”

“Can I have my kiss for today? Like the one from yesterday.”

“Tonight.”

Her face dropped when I moved my hand from the door and let them close. Honestly, I wanted nothing more than to kiss her plump soft lips, sucking them in my mouth, making them swell even more, but I couldn’t. If I started giving in to her orders, she’d think she could boss me around and I couldn’t have that.

Heading to my office, I called my dad.

“Yeah, son.” He picked up on the second ring, which surprised me because I thought that he’d be having the time of his life since my mom was out of town.

“What you got going on?”

“Nothing. Sitting here. Texting back and forth with your mother. That Dymani is pretty little something isn’t she? That had to have come from me.” He chuckled, but I could tell that something was on his mind.

“Pops, you aight?”

“Yes, Son. Why do you ask?”

“You sound different. I’m surprised you not out in the streets.”

The line was quiet for a moment.

“Pops?”

“Yeah, I’m here. You didn’t call me to talk about me. What’s going on?”

“I think I made a mistake.”

“In regard to what?”

“This girl I picked up from Citrus Grove.”
