Page 103 of Stolen Kiss

She hadn’t said anything about wanting to go back to driving herself around, but I was waiting for the day when she would.

Emilia was fiercely independent, and she held onto her independence with an iron fist. Much more now, after the accident, I imagined, when everyone around her couldn’t help but want to coddle her.

I climbed out of the car, pulling my jacket closer to me when a burst of stiff wind came through.

The sky was dark with an impending storm.

I had no doubt we would get more winter weather in New York in the coming weeks. Right now, it was mostly wet and cold.

I entered the building just as Emilia was walking out of her office. She didn’t notice me.

She was too busy looking down at the floor while she walked, her finger aimlessly playing with her hair, her brows furrowed together, so deep in thought.

A wave of overprotectiveness came over me.

I wanted nothing more than to wrap her up in bubble wrap and hide her away from the world.

I stopped when I was only several feet away from her and I waited for her to notice me. But she didn’t.

She almost plowed right through me, and would have fallen down had I not grabbed onto her shoulder.

“Oh, no, I am so sorry…”

She trailed off when she realized it was me, and then a bright smile overtook her face. Suddenly, everything else blurred into the background.

“Jensen!” She threw her arms around me and pulled me close.

“Hey, baby. Did you miss me?”

She pulled away and schooled her face. “I didn’t say that.”

I smiled. This girl. This sassy, beautiful girl would be the death of me, I was sure of it.

“I missed you,” I told her, my voice whisper-soft.

Pleasure entered her eyes, lighting her green eyes. “Yeah?”

I bent so we were eye to eye. “Oh yeah. I missed the way you feel, baby.” Her cheeks turned red, and she looked side to side to make sure no one was around. I continued, uncaring if someone really was around. “I missed those cute little noises you make right before you’re about to come, the way your skin flushes from your arousal, and fuck, baby, but I really miss the way you taste. I’m going through withdrawal.”

She slapped my chest playfully, but I knew by her smile she wasn’t offended. I wiggled my eyebrows a bit, and she giggled, and fuck me if I wasn’t more affected by such an innocent sound than I had ever been by the moans of pleasure from my past lovers.

Emilia was sent to this earth for the sole purpose of ruining me.

I was sure of it now.

“Wanna get out of here?” I asked her softly.

She frowned at me. “Don’t I have a class with Elodie this evening?”

“Elodie’s at a sleepover with Ensley. She probably won’t even remember us.”

I wrapped my arms around her waist with the intention of leading her out of there, but she stopped me with a hand to my chest. I looked at her questioningly.

“You know, I’m starting to think you had an ulterior motive for enrolling Elodie into my class.”

She would be correct in thinking that. Not that I would ever tell her, though.

“If that’s the case,” she added, “you’re a stupid man.”
