Jace didn’t look happy about it, but it didn’t take him long to smile at me again, and he nodded. “Okay, baby. We’ll tell him when you’re ready, okay?”
“Thank you. I know this is hard.”
“You have no idea.” And, as if to prove his point, he moved against me once more, and I tightened my legs around him.
That felt so good.
If only we had more time.
Jace leaned down and kissed my jaw before moving down to my neck, sucking and nipping gently there. Goosebumps broke out across my skin and I ran my finger through his soft hair.
“Before you distract me further,” I said, tilting my head to the side to give him more access. He took advantage of that and nuzzled further into me. I sighed.
“What is it?” he asked in between licks.
“My sister wants to come visit me this weekend.”
I felt him pause briefly before he went back to what he was doing. “Are you happy about that?”
“Yes,” I said, and I realized I was when I said it. I was happy that Emilia was coming to visit me. As much as I needed some time away from my family, I missed them like crazy. I had never been so far away from my childhood home before.
“We can show her around,” he said casually. “Might even take her out drinking, if you’re up for it.”
I leaned back a little and Jace pulled away. He was staring down at me with a small frown on his face. “We?” I asked, hopefully.
I didn’t think to ask Jace to help keep Emilia entertained, mostly because I knew how busy he was. Plus, we were still so new to the whole relationship thing, and I hadn’t really thought to put a label on it just yet.
His eyes softened when he took me in. “We,” he said. “Is that a problem?”
“No, it’s not a problem. It’s not a problem at all. But what about Elliot? We can’t take him with us if we’re taking Emilia out.”
“We’ll find him a babysitter. I’m sure Ms. Bennett wouldn’t mind watching him for one night. I’ll even invite Jensen, so Emilia won’t feel like the third wheel.” He grinned as he said it, and I rolled my eyes, seeing where he was going with this.
“That’s very sweet of you. Will you let Jensen know that my baby sister doesn’t live here, so he needs to keep his dirty hands off of her?”
“How would you know if his hands are dirty?”
I groaned and he laughed. “I just… I don’t want her to get hurt.”
“They’re both adults. Capable of making their own decisions. And who’s to say they would even hit it off?”
“Well, my little sister is very beautiful, you know. She takes after our mom.”
“I don’t doubt it, considering how beautiful you are.”
“Oh, no. She’s much more beautiful than me.”
“Now, that I doubt. I can’t see anyone more beautiful than you.” And then he leaned down and kissed my cheek, his eyes filled with affection… for me.
I knew that wasn’t true. I knew what I looked like, and though I wasn’t insecure about my looks or anything, I wasn’t as beautiful as my sister or my mom. I happened to love the way I looked, and I loved that Jace seemed to love the way I looked as well. I couldn’t help the pleased smile from showing through and Jace kissed my lips, pulling away too quickly.
“Thank you,” I said softly, meaning it. For making me feel beautiful, even when I felt at my sloppiest, and for welcoming my family into his home—he didn’t have to do any of it. I didn’t say all that, though I thought it.
But he seemed to know what I meant, because his gaze never wavered from mine when he said, “You’re welcome, baby,” in the softest voice I’d ever heard him use.
Then he leaned down and kissed me again, longer this time, and much more passionately, and I closed my eyes, kissing him back, trying to convey with my actions just how happy he made me.
He pulled away and licked his lips, and I didn’t know why it was so hot, but it was, and I really, really wished we didn’t have to go anywhere today.
Jace climbed off me and stood, holding out his hand. There was a regretful look in his eyes, too.
I offered a shy smile and placed my hand in his, letting him help me up. He pulled me forward until I was standing directly in front of him, both hands cupping my shoulders. He waited until I looked up at him before he spoke. “Why don’t you go wake Elliot up and I’ll get started on breakfast, deal?”
“Deal,” I said, my smile widening a little.
He kissed my forehead before walking away and I watched him, my eyes moving to his firm ass, trying hard not to give into temptation and chase after him just to beg for another kiss.
I had it bad.
