He gasps my name as he cums again, and I follow suit, emptying myself into him for a second time.
I feel a strange pull as our bond lights up, throbbing with pleasure and shock and a small amount of fear. Henry’s feelings. It’s been so long since I felt anything this strong from him, it takes me a moment to process what’s happening... I think our bond is repairing itself, getting stronger through our shared pleasure.
We lie together on the bed afterwards, my arms wrapped around him, our bodies sticky with spunk and sweat. I’m not sure I’ve ever been happier in my life. I can feel Henry’s happiness too, though it’s incomplete. I imagine because it’s just us, and not the whole pack together.
When my knot finally deflates, Henry turns to face me, cupping my face in his hand. “Thank you,” he says softly, leaning in and giving me a gentle kiss. “That was incredible. You’re incredible.”
The words sink into my very soul, offering a temporary balm against the misery of my anger and resentment. But when I open my mouth to reply in kind, the muscles in my throat are too tight, and the words won’t come.
Henry nods in understanding, sharp hurt evidence in his eyes. Without a word, he gets up and leaves my bed, grabs his clothes, and shows himself out.
Chapter Nineteen - Carissa
We’re all dressed upwith nowhere to go. The dates today were supposed to be outdoors, but there’s a big storm coming through, and the producers are scrambling to figure out an alternative. Since the first rose ceremony is supposed to take place at the end of the day, there’s a good amount of pressure on them to find a solution, from what I can gather.
While we wait, the omegas all eat breakfast together in a banquet room. Per usual, I attract a fair number of scathing looks. There aren’t actually that many of us here, but I don’t even know all the other omegas’ names. I know Randy, of course, and the girl who was out with my pack —Conrad’s pack, I correct myself with a twinge of horror; I cannot start thinking of them as mine — I think her name is Cindy. But the other two are just angry faces without names, and it doesn’t seem like that’s likely to change any time soon. If the celebrity status didn’t give me a bad reputation, the special separate suite definitely did.
“Good morning!” Beatrice booms, bursting through the doors with far too much exuberance pre-caffeine.
“Bitch, I can’t believe you’re here!” Randy crows, getting to his feet and throwing his arms around her. “I’m supposed to be the comeback kid this time!”
“Turns out you weren’t enough,” Beatrice says with a wink. “What are we eating today?”
The other omegas swarm around Beatrice, but I keep my distance. I’m not going to nose my way in and make things awkward for everyone.
Sighing, I sit down by myself and begin to eat a giant bowl of fruit. I’ll say this forOmega Girls; their catering is to die for. I snagged three mini chocolate croissants along with my fruit, and I have every intention of housing all of them.
A cameraman hovers nearby, watching me eat, which makes me a little nervous, but I remind myself that I should be used to eating with an audience by now; after all, almost every omega ball came with a dinner, and I had to make myself look polished at those, just as I have to do now.
A tinkle of laughter rises from a nearby table, where the other omegas are all gathered around Beatrice with fan-girl expressions on their faces. Cindy and Randy have linked arms with her on either side, and she’s entertaining everyone with a story that is apparently absolutely riveting.
I force my eyes back to my plate. Beatrice was kind to me, and I’m not going to repay that by feeling jealous that the others like her when they hate me. I’m not going to be that petty. I’m going to remind myself that I’m lucky to have at least one friend here; after all, it’s more than I had before she arrived.
When I’m done eating, I rise from my seat, grab an extra cup of coffee, and make for the door.
“Carissa, where are you going?” one of the producers — I don’t know her name — asks. “We’re supposed to wait—”
