“I think I’m going to cancel our lesson for today. I’ve already overloaded you with information. There’s a good chance you won’t be able to retain anything else.” Grace pats my hand, smiling to herself when I don’t pull away. “We’ll pick up the day after tomorrow.”

“What? Why?” I ask as we both stand. “Do I get an extra day off?”

Grace laughs. “Sadly, not the whole day. Tomorrow, you will be receiving dance lessons.”

“But I already know how to dance.”

“That might be so, but you do not know the dances of the Fae courts, so I have an instructor coming in. Caiden, Hunter, Kai, and Marcos will be there since they are partnered dances.”

Sounds like a great way to spend my day—not.

“But once you have the dances down, you’ll be able to have the rest of the day to yourself.”

I make a face but nod my understanding. At least I have two hours free for myself. That’ll at least allow me some time to try to deal with what I’ve learned about the death of the family that I’ll never have the chance to know.

Heading to the door, I glance over my shoulder to see Grace holding a framed picture and tears in her eyes. I decide that I’ve intruded enough on her grief and duck out the door, shutting it quietly behind me. I guess I could go back up to my room and continue to read the book from the night before, or I could head back out to the gardens.

It’s an easy choice as I turn towards the gardens, knowing that I won’t be able to recapture the peace from earlier in the morning. There is just too much going on inside my head.
