"Thanks so much for helping me," she said. "They were getting nervous, and I'm paranoid about letting clients down. As soon as I began sending them batches of completed files, they were happy again."
"Happy clients. It's what we all want," I said with a grin, slipping my arm around her.
"Is it okay if I chill here for a bit before getting a cab home?" she asked.
"Of course." I was already planning on driving her home myself if she’d let me.
Pulling her against my shoulder, I threw a blanket over us and she snuggled in while I flipped on the TV. I found an old eighties romcom that made her giggle as soon as she saw it.
"I really appreciate you working so hard on my album with me," I said softly.
Cassie turned that pretty face up to mine as my arm instinctively tightened around her. I wanted her so much, but she seemed very innocent. I'd have to be careful.
"I really do like your songs," she said, as her hand slipped up my arm. "It's a lot of fun to pull things apart and mess around with them. Kinda like playing with blocks."
I chuckled. "Honestly, it's amazing I can concentrate on music at all with such an incredible girl right here," I murmured, bringing my lips to hers.
She leaned closer, the simmering heat between us focussed on the way our lips brushed together.
My hand slipped around her hip as her fingers tangled into the back of my hair. I lifted her into my lap, cradling her soft, curvy body against me. Her tiny purr drove me wild, as I imagined what other soft noises she might make for me very soon.
Our lips were feverish and searching as we devoured each other, then lingered more slowly as the kiss turned dreamy. Gentle. Her soft mouth opened, allowing me to explore the feeling of the two of us bonding together.
Then Cassie pulled away, smiling shyly.
The way she snuggled so close told me that she trusted me. It also suggested that she hadn’t had any physical affection from a man for quite some time. Perhaps never?
Well, I was going to be everything she needed. Comfort, another creative outlet, whatever she wanted from me, she’d have it.
The sound of her breathing slowing down as her eyes closed was beyond music to my ears. It was something I’d always craved. Complete trust. I was sure it was the sound of love beginning.
