Baldocontinued to frown at him. This was whyBaldowould never get a promotion. He really had more brawn than brains.
“The waitress,” he explained patiently.
“Her?”Baldofrowned. “Don’t you think he would’ve gotten tired and rid of her by now?”
He shook his head. Aldo thought back to the numerous times he caught Sergio sneaking that waitress secret looks. He didn’t think much of it then. Aldo certainly didn’t want to be in that waitress’s shoes.
No one in their right mind wanted a coldblooded killer like Sergio looking at them like some kind of prize. Still, Aldo always knew Sergio’s obsession with the waitress would eventually become useful to him.
“No,” he finally answered. “He wouldn’t break a favorite toy, not so soon.”
Aldo pulled out his phone and opened his location app. He typed the town name and set the phone down to showBaldothe landmarks of the town. “We’ll split up the search. You take this residential area, all the way to the trailer park on the outskirts of town.”
Baldogroaned. It was a lot of work, but both of them would reap the rewards if they brought Sergio in. Aldo intended to bring back the traitor in a black body bag. Returning Sergio to Victor alive wasn’t an option.
“And you?”Baldoasked.
“I’ll take the Main Street all the way to this small bookstore over here.” Aldo tapped the store’s position on the screen. “Any other questions?”
Baldoshook his head.
“Good. I know there’s only a small chance Sergio’s holed up with his new whore in this town, but stay on your toes.”
“You bet.” The idiot opened his suit jacket, flashing his impressive assortment of guns at Aldo.
“Close that coat, you damn fool,” he hissed.
“I’m no fool. I’m not going up against a monster like Sergio without being prepared.”
Aldo sharedBaldo’ssentiments.
