“You aren’t killing any of us.” My deep demon voice growled as my dark head and Lacey’s light heart began an internal battle.
The wolf snarled once more, rising on his hind legs, showing me just how powerful he was. But he was no match for me.
Nobody was.
Actually, I knew that was a lie. I had a blood bond to Lacey, and I’d always said she could never beat me because she was too light. But now her light with my darkness would make us the two most powerful people in this world.
Probably her more than me.
I always told her she only needed a little darkness to overpower me.
Seb groaned once more on the floor. The dark in his eyes flicked to me. He nodded and closed his eyes once more.
Seb was done.
I had to finish this and get him some help.
Ryan saw his opportunity and pounced.
But I was the fucking devil. I knew he would do that. I flew to one side and held up my finger. “Now, now Ryan, that was a sly move, more fox like than wolf like.”
Ryan growled and pounced at me once again. I did the same and flew to the left.
He was getting more and more annoyed and his claws extracted further out of his paws. But instead of pouncing on me, he turned his attention and swooped on Seb, his claws raised in the air.
It’s over.
I flew straight into him and knocked him to the opposite side, and I really wanted to show him who was the strongest between us in a fight. Because his white wolf was no match for me.
But Seb was bleeding out, dying, and I now knew what I had to do. I pushed my devil strength into Ryan's throat and paralysed him with my demon stare. And as his eyes stared into mine, I said, “I never wanted Lacey to believe you were the dark king. I could never have her thinking you could be me.”
Ryan’s eyes widened as it all became clear.
“And I always knew who you were. I always knew you left your people without a leader in your quest for Lacey. What I didn’t know was how you knew who Lacey really was. That information was hidden and not in any of the books you read.”
Ryan snarled as I held his throat. “All the kings knew who she was. It was a battle between us to find a way to create the strongest supernatural race. Then we would rule the world.”
I laughed as I held his hand tight. “You should never have left your people in the hands of the dark fae. The only thing you succeeded in was making the light fae the weakest. Hopefully, with Gray Trent’s leadership, they have realised what it is like to have a genuine leader. He didn’t like them, but he still took them under his wing... And you let him.”
“I had to,” he murmured as I increased the strength I had against his throat. His breathing became shallower, and I really wanted to draw this out, wanted to watch as the light in his world ebbed out in tiny fragments.
But I didn’t have the time.
“It’s time to die for real, not hibernation. And I am going to ensure you are vanished... personally.”
The bright yellow in his eyes disappeared, and finally his shallow, ragged breaths stopped. I used my magic to check for signs of life in case he had put his body into hibernation again. I could just as easily snap his neck and ensure once and for all, but this was so much sweeter.
He was dead. His wolf changed into Ryan and then into the white-haired, light fae king I knew. I smiled before vanishing him into the afterworld, this time forever.
And I rushed myself to Seb.
“Hold on.” I lifted Seb’s still body in my massive arms before striding a few steps and taking flight again. I knew Seb and Kane had brought a car, but I also knew Clayton Summer had a hospital ward within his manor and he would prefer this to be kept hidden.
“Lacey, ask Clay to lift the wards on his home and get a doctor quick. I’m taking Seb there.”I hadn’t spoken to her telepathically since she left my home. It was far too difficult to speak to her. She’d tried to communicate, but I ignored her each time.
“Thank you, I will do it now,” she replied.
My wings fluttered as I drifted on the outside of the oak perimeter, deciding flying was less tense than sifting. Although I could sift into Clay’s home immediately, but I needed to give Lacey time to get the wards lifted. I knew after getting inside at Lacey’s ceremony Clay would have put further measures in place, though some of those would have to be lifted again considering Lacey was carrying my child.
