Chapter 14
WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN the ‘walk of shame’ back in Boston was anything but that here in Virgin Gorda. Back home, Calista would have found herself leaving a man’s place with an expression of equal parts regret and dissatisfaction. This morning, however, she found herself flanked between two men as they walked her back to her own room. The villa that Zane and Xavier stayed in seemed so much closer the night before. Or maybe it just appeared to be farther away now due to her partially exhausted state.
“I still can’t believe I did that.” She meant to keep it to herself but ended up saying it aloud. Mortification filled her as both men stopped and Xavier turned her toward him.
“We can tell you don’t do much for yourself, belleza. That’s all going to change in the next two weeks,” he stated.
“We’re going to make sure of it,” Zane added. Then he grabbed her hand and gave it a slight tug as if in reassurance. “We want you to turn off those voices in your head and let us take care of everything.”
“We know what you want, Calista, but more importantly we know what you need,” Xavier interjected before continuing. “I’m sure that as thorough as any research you’ve done in the past was, it is no match for the hands-on type we’re going to provide.”
Cali shivered at their words and knew they were right. After all, she had agreed to this little arrangement while back in the bedroom with the two dominating men. Inside she was both excited and scared but realized that opportunities like this didn’t come around very often, especially for women like her.
Once her trip was over, the two men would carry on with their obviously lavish lifestyle and she would be back to the same old life, same old loneliness back in Beantown. Shaking her head softly, Calista refused to dwell on that insight right now. Currently she had caught the eyes of two men straight out of one of her best-selling novels. She would try her best to enjoy herself knowing that if the time spent with them would be anything like the night before, it wouldn’t take much effort on her part to do so.
“Yes, Sirs,” she told them, suddenly unsure of whether they preferred to be called ‘Masters’ instead. Neither corrected her, so she let it go and they continued along the stone pathway to her room.
Once they reached their destination, a small amount of awkwardness returned. Would they come inside or wait by the door for her? The whole concept of submitting fully and unconditionally to another was still foreign to her. She was about to ask when Xavier answered the unspoken question.
“We’re going to head to Taste and have breakfast started, Calista. We’ll give you a half hour to shower and change before we expect you to meet us there.”
The command seemed simple enough and she nodded in response and was about to enter her room when something dawned on her. “W-what are we doing afterward so I’ll know what type of clothing to wear?”
She hated the fact that both men still made her stutter when speaking to them. She thought she’d moved past that particular impediment when younger. A slight blush crept up her face, warmth suffusing her cheeks. Cali knew she was very inexperienced in all facets of this type of lifestyle and hoped she didn’t have them second-guessing their earlier offer.
“We’re going to explore the island today, angel. As much as I hate for you to wear any clothing, a simple bikini and possible cover-up is all you’ll need. We’ll see you soon,” Zane answered before lowering his head and brushing his lips softly over hers.
Then in a blink of an eye, she watched them turn around, leaving her standing there all alone. It was then she became aware of the breath she had been holding in. Exhaling sharply, she leaned against the stucco exterior for a few seconds before going inside her room.
Calista had forgotten to turn the air conditioning off, so goose bumps rose on her skin almost instantaneously once she stepped inside. Shivering for a much different reason now, she adjusted the temperature and walked to the large teak wood dresser. It was a good thing she had brought bikinis with her because they’d asked her to wear them, and knowing what she did about Dominants, it was an order rather than a request and more than likely non-negotiable.
She glanced quickly at the alarm clock beside the bed. I have about twenty-five minutes. It’s a good thing I’m not like Em and spend hours in front of the mirror before leaving my house. Shedding her dress, she padded into the bathroom and immediately turned the shower on.
The water was the perfect temperature within seconds and she stepped into the glass-enclosed capsule and stood under the large rain shower head affixed to the ceiling. Cali closed her eyes and her mind went back to the previous night. She’d been skeptical about meeting anyone but that soon changed when she met Xavier.
Just the thought of Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome had her sighing aloud. He was successful, powerful, and so good-looking. He truly was like one of those fictional male leads from a romance book. Cali couldn’t believe that she would ever meet and talk to someone like him, much less sleep with him.
It was too good to be true and she wondered for a moment whether he was even real or just someone she’d conjured up in her mind. If Xavier was merely a figment of her imagination, then Zane would have to be too.
Thoughts now turned to the blond Dominant who was built like a Greek god as her hands drifted down her torso to rest against her belly. Her entire body tingled and her core ached for them. Damn those two for leaving her in this semi-aroused state.
“Get a hold of yourself, Calista,” she demanded. All the two said they had planned was breakfast followed by what she assumed to be an island tour. It wasn’t like they planned to take her back to bed even though that option sounded better with each passing second. Shaking her head, she wondered at which point she’d become so sex-crazed. It was completely out of character for her, which made it all the more unsettling.
Forcing her eyes to open, she grabbed her coral body puff and squirted some soap onto it. Her daydreaming had surely cost her at least five to ten of the allotted minutes. With that realization, she washed herself as swiftly as possible and shampooed her hair in what had to be record time.
When she got out of the shower, she had the very unenviable task of choosing a swimsuit. Cali had tried these on in Boston before packing and had found faults with practically every single one. She remembered they’d told her she could wear a cover-up, so she selected the zebra striped top with plain black bottoms and quickly got dressed.
Her hair was wet and she had no time to dry it properly, so Cali pulled it up into a ponytail. Slipping on the black terrycloth cover-up, she grabbed her camera bag and room key. She was pretty confident that Taste was the restaurant they’d passed on the way to her room this morning, so she headed in that direction, letting out a sigh of relief when she saw the sign.
As promised, the two men were waiting for her. They must have also gone back to their room because instead of the sweatpants they were previously wearing when she woke up, they were both clad in something different now. Xavier was wearing a tropical shirt with khaki shorts, and Zane wore a white T-shirt with black shorts. Both rose from their seats when they saw her and motioned her over.
“I’m happy you showed up, belleza. I was starting to worry about you,” Xavier said as he pointed to the empty seat beside him. It was situated right between him and Zane, and Cali was sure that was no coincidence.
“I didn’t mean to keep you waiting,” she apologized. Flashing a remorseful smile at him, she took her seat. That was when she noticed the full spread of items in front of them.
When she first arrived, all she could look at was the two men. Now, she could turn her attention to the breakfast if that was what one wanted to call the dozen or so dishes in front of them.
“We weren’t sure what you’d like, so we ordered several things off the menu,” Zane explained, speaking for the first time since she’d gotten there. “Help yourself to whatever you’d like.”
Everything looked so good, especially the bacon, eggs, and hash browns. Even that was more than what she normally ate in the morning back home. Her usual morning meal consisted of a banana with either a bowl of cereal or a cup of yogurt.
Reaching out for the bowl of fruit salad, she spooned out a small amount onto her plate. Cali felt both men staring at her selection. Obviously, they expected her to eat more than she’d chosen, and only because there was so much food, she picked up the plate with some lightly buttered toast and fluffy eggs. The smell of the sausage wafted toward her and she grabbed two small links.
Cali was unsure of how hungry she really was until her stomach growled. Hoping that no one heard the noise, she stuck her fork into a piece of cantaloupe and brought it to her mouth. She sensed their gazes on her but ignored it the best she could and went about the task of eating.
