I honestly wasn’t hungry at all, so I smiled. “The surprise.”

“I was hoping you would say that. Take your bikini and go into the bathroom to change, then meet me out here and I will show you.”

One thing I had noticed rather quickly about Kristopher Simon was how authoritative he was. I was still on the fence about whether it was more of a turn-on or a turn-off, but I would concern myself with that later. I snatched it from his hand and entered the small bathroom. Once inside, it didn’t take long to shed my existing clothes and change into the swimsuit. I didn’t immediately emerge, however, as my attention was drawn to the scenery outside of the large circular window.

We were at a higher elevation and I could not only see but I could hear the waves as they lapped against the rocky cliff. I closed my eyes and thought back to a few nights earlier. We were also on the beach, and it was when we had kissed. My nipples tightened and my core ached. I knew it was wrong, yet I wanted this man more than anything right now. I kept my eyes closed and remembered the way his hands had fondled me as he kissed me, and I couldn’t help but moan.

“Are you okay in there?” he asked from the other side of the door.

My eyes flew open, and color flooded my cheeks. I could see how crimson my face had become and I inwardly cursed. “Yes. I’ll be out there in a minute.” I then turned on the cold tap and splashed some water onto my face. It helped the coloring a bit, but not completely. It would have to do. I took a deep breath, then reentered the room to find him standing there in the same blue swim trunks he had been in that first night.

His body was hard all over, muscle covering every visible inch of his chest. The star tattoos also previously observed seemed even darker in the bright light. As they did that night, my eyes drank him in and followed the stars until I saw the very tip of one peeking out over the top of his waistband. I swallowed hard, then tore my gaze away.

“Are we going to go swimming?”

“Yes, but in a very special place,” he replied, and I arched a brow. He extended his hand to me, and I quickly grabbed it. Little did this man know that I would follow him anywhere.

He led me out of the house and down some steps that had been carved from the rocks. They were smooth, yet warm from the overhead sun. There were about a dozen or so of them until they stopped. There was no shoreline or anything, so I turned to question him but the sight that greeted me stopped me.

Looking over his shoulder, I saw a large pool of water that looked like it disappeared into a cave of sorts. Excitement filled me and I nearly pushed him over in my haste to get a closer look. “Whoa,” he told me as he pulled me back from the ledge. “I know I’m a doctor and all, but I don’t want to spend the evening administering medical care to you, Ale.”

“Sorry,” I responded. “Can we get into the water now?”

He gave me a nod, and with the pool nearly level with the bottom step, I simply needed to step into the water which was at least a few degrees cooler than the stretch of ocean we were in the other night. Kris followed me into it, and I acted on impulse. I splashed some water at him, and he growled. The sound reverberated off the rock and it made me shiver. Everything about the man was sexy. Whoever his ex was, she had to be the most foolish woman on Earth to give up someone like him. I had almost told him as much the night before when we’d been talking about her, but it wasn’t my place to make blanket assumptions. I had no idea what really went on in their relationship, but it didn’t stop me from being envious nonetheless.

He splashed back, so I pushed more water at him. I was giggling until I saw the predatory look on his face, his eyes promising some sort of retribution. Was I scared? Absolutely not, but a shiver wracked me as he started his approach. On instinct, I backed up and into the cave, then shrieked as he easily caught up with me and pulled me under the surface.
