I knew he was talking about the way that I always ate the crust off of my pizza first, or how I would eat all of one thing on my plate before moving on to another. There had been so many things we had come to notice about one another once we moved in together.
“And you love me despite the weirdness,” I answered.
Kristopher set his plate down and cupped my face in his palms. “I love you because of it, Ale.”
I smiled, and before I could get a single word out, he pressed his lips to mine, and our food and everything else was forgotten until Karter walked by. “Ugh. You two need to get a room.”
I was giggling when Kris pulled away, especially when he asked, “What do you know about getting a room?”
The boy shrugged. “Uncle Jonas has plenty of them, and he said that you two need to be alone in one.” Karter then grabbed the second hot dog off of his father’s plate and took a bite from it. He started to move away, but stopped and turned to me. “And you were right. Uncle Mason ate the last one of these.”
He then walked off and I turned to Kris who was cursing under his breath about not only his friend, but his son stealing his food. I slid my plate over to him. “You can have the rest of my pizza if you want it.”
He smirked at me, then leaned in close. “What I want most from you is...”
Jonas was right about something after all. If Kris intended to do all of that, we definitely needed a room, and soon since my husband couldn’t keep his hands off of me. I moaned once or twice as his lips skated along my neck. Despite the scandals, pain, and heartache, we had come through on to the other side. It’d been a long, hard road, but one I wouldn’t have changed for anything.
The happy sounds from our friends and family filled my heart with warmth. I once thought being a doctor was the only dream I had, but I realized now that love was the biggest one of all. Through my husband and children, it was a dream that came true for me day after day. I snuggled against him, then leaned back and watched everyone as they played. It’d been a long road for not just Kris and me, but for all of those in front of us. They said a Titan always emerges triumphant, and looking at the four other men that shared that title with Kris, it was true. These men had money... power... respect... and now, they all had love too, and that was the most priceless of them all.
