Page 55 of Scandalously Yours

The endocrinologist had arrived the night before, and I knew he was reviewing all of Kaylee’s lab work. “Yes, absolutely. I can meet you at the hospital in an hour.”

“Great. I’ll see you then.” The doctor disconnected the call, and I set the phone back down on the beside table.

“Is everything okay?” Alessia asked me as she scrambled upright in bed, drawing the sheets with her.

“I think so. If it was bad, I’m sure he would’ve wanted to see me more urgently.” I had filled Alessia in on the specialist, and Kaylee’s condition sometime in the early morning hours before she had gone to sleep. I truly appreciated her concern, and it was ironic that she was more worried about my daughter than Hayley was. I probably should’ve called her and told her about the consult, but it would likely interfere with some other superficial thing in her life, so there was no use.

“I truly hope they’ve uncovered whatever is ailing her,” Alessia told me, and I pulled her down on top of me.

I pressed my mouth to Alessia’s, and when her lips parted, I thrust my tongue inside. There were so many things that people took for granted, but I wouldn’t be one of them. Going to sleep and waking up in each other’s arms was something that I intended to savor for as long as I could. I deepened the kiss, although I showed no urgency. My tongue languorously tangled with hers, and I only stopped kissing her when my cock got even harder.

“This is nice,” she murmured, then smiled at me.

“It is,” I agreed, then added, “And it’s going to be something we get to do a lot more often. I love you, Ale. You’re my future, and to prove it to you, I’ve actually asked my lawyer the other night to file for divorce immediately, despite the separation.”

She looked so happy, and her smile brightened the entire room, lifting the dark circle that had hovered over me in recent days. “You did?”

She looked confused, yet happy at the same time. “Yes. I wanted to get the divorce, then I intended to come and claim you as mine. I want the entire world to know that I’m yours, and that you’re mine.”

This time, her expression was one of pure joy as she reached out and cupped my face between her hands. “I am yours, Kris. Always, only yours.”

“I like the sound of that.” She happily nodded, then pressed her lips to mine.

Like the siren she was, I forgot everything the moment her lips touched mine. This time, I kissed her with a bit more passion as it bubbled up inside of me like a rolling spring. This dream I was currently in was the life I wanted, and the one that I would soon have. I’d have the love of an amazing woman, along with my children. My career was stronger than ever, and I’d finally be living the life of a true Titan. I might’ve been labeled one by society, but until I had everything money couldn’t buy, I never really felt like one. That would all change soon.

I needed to check in with my lawyer so while I would’ve loved to do nothing more than remove the sheet between us and make love to her all over again, I did need to make a phone call. If nothing else, what I heard might be one of the things we could celebrate later tonight. I pulled away, then ran my thumb over her slightly swollen lips.

“I need to call my attorney to check on the status. How about we grab some breakfast somewhere before I head to the hospital to meet with the endocrinologist?”

“That sounds perfect. I need to work later, so coffee would be great. It’s my first night back.” Her voice fell immediately, and I knew what she had been thinking of. It was the day Hayley tried to get me arrested, and the night Alessia left me. Thank fuck it hadn’t been for good. “I just need a few minutes to freshen up.”

She didn’t wait for a response before getting up and dragging the sheet with her into the bathroom. I reached over for my phone. After finding the attorney’s number, I pressed the call button. Seconds later, he answered. “Hey, have the papers been served yet?”

“She was served last night. I’m surprised you haven’t heard from her. She had her lawyer send me a scathing reply, but nothing you need to be concerned with.”

“What did she demand this time?” I asked, unwilling to put anything past Hayley. The fact that I hadn’t received as much as an angry text made me think she was up to something.

“Nothing you need to worry about. I sent a preview of what we have in our arsenal. I doubt she would want any of that coming to light. Her best bet at this time is to take the money offered in the original prenup, then move on.”

“I agree. I just hope she realizes defeat and comes to her senses before I have to expose her. After all, I do have my children to think about, and I wouldn’t want them to see any of that stuff about her when they get older. As it is, a Titan can’t even piss in an alley without the press knowing about it.”

“I hear you on that. I’ll give her lawyer a ring this morning, and I’ll keep you apprised of anything else that might come up. Before we hang up though, how is your daughter doing?”

Alessia emerged from the bathroom and I had to remind myself that I couldn’t ravish her right now despite how much I wanted to. “She’s doing better. Just keep me informed of any progress.”

“Will do, boss.”

The call disconnected and I rose from the bed in all of my nakedness. Her eyes moved to my body and I stood there as she unabashedly looked me up and down. Her wide gaze nearly singed my skin as it moved lower and lower. When she looked down at my erection, she gulped, then quickly looked back up at me.

“You’re lucky we have other things to do or else I’d do a morning encore of our previous night,” I teased.

She turned a rosy shade of red, then hurried into the other room to get her clothes. I took her lead, and after taking a quick shower, I joined her in the living room. She was waiting patiently, her attention drawn to the skyline outside of the window. While she lived fairly close to me, the views from her place compared to mine were much different. I couldn’t wait to one day take her against that thick paned glass with nothing but the glittering lights of Manhattan as far as the eye could see.

She spun around when she realized I was standing there. She already had her purse and phone in her hand, so I grabbed my keys and wallet. “Do you want to take a car?” I asked her once we reached the lobby.

“A walk might be nice,” she replied, and I was glad she had chosen that option.

One of the great things about New York City compared to Houston was the ability to walk to any number of restaurants, stores, and other places of interest whereas we had to drive almost everywhere from my River Oaks neighborhood in Texas. My family’s home was situated in the center of an almost two acre property. I normally drove to get from one end of it to another. Sometimes I missed the eighteenth century style mansion I had grown up in, but with most houses, that one carried too many memories. If the walls could talk, I wouldn’t want to hear what they would say. I had witnessed enough of it to last a lifetime, and I was in no hurry to ever want to see more.
