“Oh,” she said, taken aback. A smile pulled at her lips. “I mean, I already knew that. So, does that mean you’re gonna see him?”

“Not sure, but you’ve given me a lot to think about.”

“That’s good because here comes the biggest pain in your ass, so I’m pretty sure this conversation is over,” she said, chuckling under her breath as Kevin came into sight.

“Ugh,” I said after catching a glimpse of him. The scowl he’d had for days was permanently fixed on his face. “I’ll grab our pizza. My stomach is growling like crazy.”

“Kevin, man the desk. We’re taking our lunch break,” Naomi said as we whizzed past him.

“Whatever,” he muttered. “Tell Sully to get out here.”

“Sure. I’ll tell your manager that.”

“Assistant manager,” Kevin snapped.

“You think he’ll quit?” I asked Naomi as we reached the door to the back room.

She nodded, looking confident. “I give it a month.”

I shook my head. “From your lips to God’s ears.”
