“Nah.” She waved me away before taking the last sip of her Slurpee. “My folks were just starting a round of Trivial Pursuit. They’ll be around the poker table for hours.”
“What is it about our parents’ generation and that game?”
“No idea. But today, I’m grateful for it.”
“Want to walk to the park? There’s a bench near the playground; we should be able to see the sun setting from there.”
“I can think of nothing I’d rather do.”
And so, we did.
With Tilly’s head on my shoulder, and our hands linked together, we watched as the fiery sun drifted below the horizon. And for the first time ever, I was able to suspend my intense hatred for Daylight Savings Time and just enjoy the extra hour of sunlight. The extra hour with Tilly.
