“Oh, yeah?” I questioned breathlessly.
“You have no idea,” he replied and removed this thigh to grind his hips down on mine. I felt his arousal against mine and I gasped again.
The door to the house by the kitchen opened and Everett came in, knocking snow off of his boots against the door frame. Nate jumped up and we arranged ourselves to not look like we’d been kissing just before he came through to get to his bedroom. My heart pounded with the adrenaline of almost getting caught, warring with the dampness of my panties.
“I took out the trash, but if one of you could bring down the bin tomorrow, it would be a great help,” Everett said casually before looking at us sitting on the couch and the paused game.
“Yeah, sure,” Nate said and pressed play on the game again. He ran a hand through his hair and adjusted how he was sitting with the blanket on his lap.
Everett narrowed his eyes at him, then looked at me. I sucked my bottom lip into my mouth and swallowed nervously. He looked between me and Nate a few times again.
“You wanna play?” Nate offered.
“No, I’m headed to bed,” Everett replied, and went to his room, shutting the door behind him.
“That was close,” I said nervously.
“Nah,” Nate dismissed. “Besides, we’re only not telling him to keep the house from getting awkward. So, if he found out, it wouldn’t be the end of the world.”
That was true. I still felt worried about how Everett would react and wondered if he would be upset. Shaking my head, I tried to dismiss the thought. I was with Nate. I didn’t need to worry about how Everett would feel about the relationship.
“We should get to bed,” Nate sighed and turned off the Xbox. “As much as I want to spend all night with you, we have a lot of work in the morning.”
“Right, and you want to take your time,” I taunted.
“Absolutely, I do,” he said in that deep tone with a look that sent shivers down my spine.
We tidied up and went upstairs to our rooms. Nate kissed me goodnight outside my bedroom door. He had me pinned between his arms against the wall and kissed me until I was breathless and shaky. He pulled away with a smile and rested his forehead against mine, though because of our height difference, he had to bend down.
I smiled back at him. “Goodnight, Nate,” I whispered.
“Goodnight, Eva,” he whispered back before pushing back from the wall and walking into his room and shutting the door.
I let out a shaky exhale and gathered my things for a shower. In the bathroom, I looked at my reflection. My brown hair was longer than I typically kept it and was now halfway down my back. My cheeks were pink from kissing Nate, and my lips were red and swollen. His scruffy beard had worn my skin around my mouth and my body tingled at the thought of what it would feel like on my thighs. I shook my head and took a rather cold shower.
Back in my room, I checked my phone to see if Dad had texted me back after I had checked in with him. But instead of a text from him, I saw one from Daisy.
Daisy: Girl are you really sleeping with Nate?!
I panicked but I wasn’t sure why.
Me: No…
Daisy: Good.
Daisy was my friend, so why wouldn’t she be supportive? She was sleeping with Everett, why couldn’t I be with Nate?
Me: Why is that good? Nate’s a great guy.
My fingers trembled as I typed. It felt like confrontation, and I loathed confrontation more than most things.
Daisy: He is a really great guy.
Me: I know. So what’s wrong?
Daisy: Then you ARE sleeping with him!Mad face emoji
Tears stung my eyes. It felt dumb to be so affected by her anger, but she was my only female friend since childhood.
