“It is… absolutely alright,” I said. The butterflies in my stomach and south of my stomach had barely let up in the ten-minute drive. My thighs were still firmly clenched together and slightly damp.
“Good,” he said brightly, more confidently now.
“We might want to keep this from Ev for now,” Nate suggested, his tone and expression saying he was still debating on that choice. “I get the feeling he would get weird about it even though he’s with Daisy.”
I nodded, not really caring what Ev would say since I had to deal with him sleeping with Daisy in our house. My butterflies turned to a swirl of jealousy at thinking of them together and then guilt because it didn’t matter- I was with Nate. I was feeling dizzyingly confused and needed to process on my own later.
We pulled up to our dark house and Nate said he’d move the car in the morning as we parked in the driveway. I unlocked the front door quickly as it was freezing and I wanted to get in bed with Nate. The house was quiet, and I assumed Everett was sleeping or in his room with Daisy. We both grabbed water bottles and headed upstairs. Nate spun me and pressed me against the wall outside my room and kissed me until I was breathless again. I reached up on my tiptoes and wrapped my arms around his neck and deepened the kiss.
He pulled away and smiled warmly down at me. “Good night, Eva.”
“G-good night?” I stuttered as the butterflies angrily demanded his attention. I pouted, having thought I was going to be in bed with him by now.
He stepped back and went into the bathroom with a smirk in response to my angry pout. I didn’t move until I heard the shower turn on. I went into my bedroom and changed into a short nightgown in a silky light pink fabric, forgoing panties or a bra in case Nate came back. My nipples were visible beneath the light fabric, and my navel and the small patch of trimmed pubic hair. I knew my butt crack was also clearly visible. I’d bought this nightgown over the summer for spending time with Caleb and I vaguely wondered at my subconscious for having packed it.
A soft knock sounded at the door, and my stomach jumped in anticipation. I quickly put my hair up in a messy bun with pieces hanging down casually. Pinching my cheeks to give them a rosy color, I opened the door.
“Oh, Everett,” I said breathlessly, shock clear on my face.
He looked me over, assessing me, and reached out to my shoulders and turned me around as though he was checking me for damage. Like a dad who had let his son take his project car out for a date and was now checking for scratches in the paint. I frowned at his intrusion and worried if he could see my nipples or my butt crack outline through the pale nightgown as he spun me back around.
“You’re okay?” he asked, worry etched in his brow.
“Yes, I’m fine,” I said in my still hoarse voice.
“Are you sick?” he asked urgently and felt my forehead.
“No, it’s from screaming,” Nate answered him, standing in the bathroom's doorway, only a towel slung low around his waist. His broad chest was on display and his wet hair slicked back. The butterflies in my stomach and my core started a parade with banners and bells. I bit my lip as my mouth watered.
Everett removed his large hands from my bare shoulders and looked at Nate. “Screaming?” he asked like he was perfectly aware of the naughty undertones of Nate’s words.
“Yeah, at the concert. Nate taught me how to scream,” I whispered to preserve my voice, furthering the innuendo. As Everett’s eyes swung back to me, Nate’s eyes darkened to a smolder. I struggled to move my eyes away from Nate’s towel to Everett’s face. But when I did, I saw Everett’s hurt expression for a millisecond before he blinked it away.
What the hell?
“She’ll be better after something hot in her throat,” Nate said, keeping the innuendo going.
Everett swallowed hard, and I watched his Adam’s apple bob.
“A couple good swallows of something hot and she’ll be good as new.” Nate pushed it a bit too far. If I wasn’t blushing before, I was positively crimson after that. Honestly, it was kind of hot, so I clenched my thighs together.
“I’ll help you,” Everett said, seemingly innocently. Like he was going to fix me a tea or get a lozenge. But neither Nate nor I heard it that way, I was sure.
I felt a million emotions all at once in an explosion dominated by panic in my stomach. “NOPE!” I coughed at the awkward strain in my voice. “Nope, I’m good. Good night, guys!”
I twirled quickly into my room, feeling my short nightgown lift with the movement and effectively flashing the guys my ass before I slammed my door shut. That was the second time I had flashed someone tonight. I heard Nate’s booming laugh as he walked down the hall to his room and Everett said “Oh, um okay, goodnight,” to my closed door before going back downstairs. My phone chimed a few moments later.
Nate: Nice asspeach emoji
Me: OMG stop I didn’t mean to do that.Face palm emoji
Nate: I appreciated the show.
Me: Bet Everett didn’t haha
Nate: Sure.
Me: Thank you for taking me to the concert tonight.
