Chapter Fifty

Dax

Toomanythingshadhappened in the past ten minutes for me to comprehend. Dimitri just exploded and damn popped into his half-wolf form. Dad missed it again; he would be pissed he did, but that is what you get when your nose is deep in your mate's pussy. Poor mom, I shook my head, getting that awful image out of my head. I love my parents dearly, but my dad has an unimaginable appetite for mom.

Not only did Dimitri shift, but we have an ex-Alpha of the Bear shifters now in our dungeons, all thanks to my sweet little mate. She may be a sexy vixen, but damn, she's got some fire. The way she started ordering for wolves and bears alike to make their way to the cellar was hot as I'd get out. Seraphina did it with grace and poise, I would just beat the ever-living life out of the twerp then maybe drag him down to the basement and beat him up some more.

Seraphina already had the wheels turning in her head when she asked if he had a mate. Which he did, unfortunately. Meaning Seraphina isn't just going to kill the scum bag because he is tied to a mate that may be innocent.

"Where is his mate?" Seraphina questioned as she looked through the crowd. She was greeted in silence as the Bears looked at one another. "I said, where is his mate?" She yelled out again. Angry Seraphina was so damn hot, that my cock immediately hardened, and I had to shift myself to try not to gather too much attention. Poor Dimitri over there was butt ass naked and didn't have a way to hide his. Oh well.

Bears continued to look around, shrugging their shoulders. Seraphina pulled on Dimitri's tall form and immediately went up on her tippy toes so she could whisper in his ear. His maw lifted, teeth showing and baring for the crowd to see. Everyone stood back several feet until a loud roar erupted from his throat.

"Last warning, where is the former Alpha Mason's mate? If I don't get an answer, you will all be escorted to the dungeon and be seen as accomplices. Dimitri here will be happy to drag you there, and he isn't in the mood for runners." Women stepped back, holding their children. "Same goes for the women and children. We are under attack here; the lives of everyone on this territory are at stake." A few seconds went by, and Seraphina raised her hand to let the order go into place until a little girl ran to the front.

"Miss Wolf ma'am?" Seraphina held back her cooing, trying to remain stoic, but I could see her heart melting at the sight of the little girl. Blonde pigtails, with a bright pink ribbon and a black pleated skirt approached. Her head was low while she plaid with the hem of her dress. Seraphina immediately crouched down and tilted the little girl's head up.

"What is it, sweetie? Do you know where Alpha Mason's mate is?" The girl nodded and pointed to the back of the crowd. As the crowd parted, there was no one there. "Honey, I don't see anything."

"They have her, those people hurting all the Bears and Wolves have her. Daddy said we had to come in here to get you guys to surrender so we could get mommy back."

Mason was luring the Wolves to come out, to be captured.

The Bears gasped, speaking loudly and arguing with each other. "I knew we shouldn't have trusted him!" One yelled loudly. "What a terrible Alpha, leading us to our death! He planned this all along! He should have asked for help, not put us all here to slaughter!"

"Silence!" I roared through the crowd. "Girl," I tried to soften my voice. "Why did your dad lead you here?"

The girl scooted closer to Seraphina, holding onto her hair. "To get us all in one place, so they attack just one area instead of two." Dimitri roared, loud enough to shake the ground and packhouse around us.

"What is your name, sweetie?" Seraphina asked while pushing her hair back behind her ear. "Nonnie." She whispered.

"You were fearless to tell me that. Alpha Mason is your dad?" Nonnie nodded. "What is your mother's name?"

"Diedra. Mommy is very quiet, she whispers a lot, and sometimes dad can't hear her very well. She tried to warn him that people were coming in the night looking through our cabin windows, but he didn't believe her. One night, they came into the cabin and took her. She's a small bear, and they gave her a shot, and she fell asleep when she tried to scream. I tried to tell daddy once they left, but he wouldn't listen to me either." Nonnie began to sniff, her tiny tears falling down her face.

Seraphina's fists balled up in anger. "Don't worry, we will get your mommy back, okay?" Nonnie nodded, burying her face in Seraphina's chest. Seraphina's eyes turned black; it couldn't possibly be her Wolf, could it? It would take a few weeks for her to shift, but she was already showing signs of her Wolf coming to the surface.

"This is all Mason’s fault; he could have prevented this." Seraphina stood up, with Nonnie on her hip. "It's time for him to pay, but I don't want his mate to suffer because of him."

I shook my head, "once Cyrene arrives, she can put a ward over his mate before we can torture the prick. For now, it is just a waiting game," I spoke to Seraphina, reassuring her.

"Rogues," growled Dimitri. Again, Dimitri stood to his full height, letting out a mighty roar for the entire area to hear. He let our warriors know that time was the essence. A large howl came from the distance to the north, the exact location we had trouble with few days ago. Only a quarter of the warrior pack army would travel with us to the north, knowing it may just be a diversion. The rest would remain here for the packhouse protection.

"Please, Seraphina, stay here and make sure the women and children are safe?" Seraphina didn't argue; she pecked me on the cheek, carrying little Nonnie and ordering those to follow her to the basement bunker under the dining area. "My mother will be taken there too, right?" Seraphina whispered. My forehead touched hers, leaving a swift kiss on her nose.

"Of course, your father and the rest of the medical team are heading down there now." Seraphina bit her lip, staring at me with furrowed brows.

"Return to me? The both of you?" Seraphina's hand gripped my shirt while I grabbed the back of her hair, tilting her head back. "Always." One passionate kiss later, I raced off into the woods. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to see her go.

Tua followed Seraphina with her baby boy in her arms, too dazed to realize what was happening. Her eyes were clouded in an amber color while her feet barely touched the ground. "Come on, Tua, we have to move." Seraphina's hand was caught between Tua as all the women and children followed close behind. Tua’s distant look had me worried. Some Witches have premonitions and would often have a spaced look on their eyes. There was no time to question her; the northern border was at risk.

Once the last of the women and children were in the building, I sauntered underneath the window to my parent’s bedroom to meet my father. He jumped out of the third-story window. Mom waved goodbye as she ran down the stairs to meet the others in the bunker.

Mom must be weak if she is not out fighting. Staying in a bunker would be the last thing she would do. "Let's go," Dad growled, pulling me to the forest. His shock looked only lasted a moment, shaking his head seeing my half-shifted form.

"Let's go; your mother and mate are safe," he growled again. He must be pissed he missed the second one to shift.
