Dimitri pulled me close to his chest. “This is the Ever-Green Creek pack. Mom came to know them when she moved here after her aunt died. She had no clue they were Wolves, and this quickly became her second home once she realized who dad was.”
“Let’s go,” Kane waved. The warriors all lined up single file, walking through the portal. The mirror would part after each person, engulfing them into itself.
My heart raced, picking up the pace of doing something so blindly. Dimitri and Dax only gripped my hand tighter, Dax leading us while Dimitri kept his hand behind me. We entered and the coolness of the forest followed, but no air flowed through the portal. It was black as night from left to right and only a small light in front of us guided our way. No speaking, no whispers came from the dark, no eyes stared at us, at least I didn’t feel any eyes. All I felt was nothingness.
The light became larger, and we finally stepped through, opening up to a brand-new word. The sky was blue with hints of purple and pink. There was not one sun, but two shining down on us. One was brighter while the other found the shadows and hunted them down.
We stepped out only to land on a large ledge of a mountain, overseeing a land before us that could only be explained as a fantasy. Gigantic mountains in the distance, a castle some distance below and just to the left of it another castle further away that shined brighter than the castle closest to us.
“That is the Cerulean Moon Kingdom,” Dax pointed. “That is where we will go. Just to the left, further away, is the Golden Light Kingdom. Home to mostly Faes and Fairies.” I took a large breath in, covering my chest with my hand.
“It’s so beautiful,” I murmured. Wolves ran down the mountain, yipping and howling, along a beaten path. Howls of excitement growls of longing to be home, filled the mountain air. A shadow overhead flew past us. It was too quick to be a cloud until I finally noticed a large black dragon blowing its fire from its mouth.
“No way,” I smiled wildly. “A dragon!?” My mates laughed watching see the dragon circle around the Cerulean Moon Kingdom.
“That is Creed. He must have found some rogues. He doesn’t come this way often,” Dimitri spoke, pulling me to the carriage.
“Why would he come to the castle because of some rogues? I’m guessing he kills them, right?”
“He does, but for each rogue killed, mom grants dragons anything they want. Mom isn’t into treasure, so dragons have become the police of rogue species. They find one, kill it and come for a reward. You know dragons have their hoards.”
Of course, dragons had their hordes of gold.
The carriage ride was not as bumpy as I had imagined. The horses continued to neigh in excitement as blue lights flickered around them, tossing their manes into large curls and braids. My head stuck out the window, wondering what they were. They saw me and Dax pulled me in. “Don’t let them see you,” he whispered playfully. “They will pull at your hair and with as much as you have, we will never get them to leave.”
The window of the carriage still opened, one of the blue lights came dashing forward going in and out of the carriage. “Oops, they spotted you,” Dimitri laughed. Suddenly, fifteen of them twisted my hair, pull on the roots. “They are called Whisps. They say they can lead you to your destiny. No Wolf believes that, though.” I snorted. Of course, they wouldn’t, because that would be too fantastic to believe.
Dax kept his hands on his head, making sure the Whisps didn’t come near. They ended up being too fascinated by my hair for them to care. Once finished, my hair was covered in large spiral locks, some braided that made my hair to resemble a crown around my head. “How do I look?” The last Whisp left the carriage.
“Beautiful,” Dimitri mumbled. Dax came to sit beside me, his hand on my thigh. “Fierce,” he kissed my cheek.
The plains of Bergarian were stunning. Large grasses swayed in the gentle breeze, small children running along us trying to keep up. This was considered the shifter plains. Many feline shifters lived here and made their own prides to keep their kind together. They practiced the old ways of living, like many shifters tend to do besides the Wolves. Many live in tents, canvas like homes and the occasional mud and twig structures.
We neared the Kingdom. The area was covered completely with forest; it was thick beautiful, and the light filtered through the trees here. Many animals came to see the commotion. Deer licked their mouths as we passed by, not bothering them. Through the woods, I swore I saw a Centaur. Blinking my eyes a few times, the animal was gone before I had a good look.
“Did you see?” I trailed off, my finger pointing into the woods.
“There are many things in Bergarian that even we don’t know about, Seraphina. Species we don’t have contact with and hell, even in the most Southeastern area, no one has come out alive. I’m sure you saw what you think you did. Besides, this is your fantasy world, right?” Dimitri winked, giving me that sultry look.
The carriage stopped in front of the castle. Most of the surroundings are of statues and thick vegetation lining every arch way and every potted plant. “This will be the biggest party in a long while,” Dax said excitedly.
“Why?” I furrowed my brows. “It is just a mating ceremony, right?” Dax pulled me to his side. Watching the others unload bags of luggage, Dax’s fingers trailed my jaw line.
“The transference of packs, Alpha and Luna Coronation, and our Mating Ceremony all into one. Who wouldn’t want to party with commotion such as that?”
Chapter Sixty-Eight
Seraphina
Threedaysofexploringa castle in a mystical land and I still continued to get lost. The corridors were long, and the stone walls and marbled floors flowed endlessly with each other. It was a mix of rustic and modern elegance, something that Clara’s mother, the former queen Eden, had created when she ruled.
It had a perfect mix for each personality, with rough edges with a gentle center. Clara ran around the castle every hour of the day, Kane trailing not far behind her. He hovered over her like a bee to a flower, watching her work with the servants that continued to clean and prepare for the massive celebration.
By the third day, guest rooms were filled with Alphas of other packs, leaders of covens, and even kings and queens from other lands. The Vermillion sent Sebastian and Christine, the close advisor to the king. They were the most down to Earth, I mean Bergarian people I had met. Christine was once a human and sympathized with my tragic way of figuring out how I came into this magical world, but she continued to soothe me that, “it was all worth it.”
I also got to meet the Golden Light Kingdom’s King and Queen, Osirus and Melina. Osirus was a strange man or Fae. Then again, I’m not sure how they are supposed to act. He acts mysterious, and leaves cryptic messages when he talks. Melina, who also grew up in the Earth realm, said it was just the way he is, and she wouldn’t change a thing about him. Melina was bright and had the most beautiful wings I had ever seen. No other Fae or Fairy had such wings because she was part Siren and the blue and green coloring of her father’s blood ran through her body. When she fluttered, the suns would hit it just right, causing a beautiful glow surrounding the walls of the castle.
Currently, I’m looking out the window. Hundreds of magical creatures were leaking into the castle, ready for not only a large ceremony but a celebration to follow. The biggest celebration in nearly twenty years.
