“Yes, mate?” I sat her up, sitting on my lap, being sure to keep her covered. Small strands of dark purple and blue highlighted underneath her red hair. Her Lycan, as we now call it, was beautiful. I swore I could see sparkles falling away from her fur as she ran through the forest with us. The moon hitting her hair caused the white of her teeth shine brightly as we hunted down the unscented Fox.

“Do I need to go help?” Trying to get away, I gripped her tightly.

“No, you are staying here.” I cradled her back to my chest while she let out a yawn. “I’m just so tired, but everyone is helping,” she mumbled. Seraphina’s back stiffened.

“Where is mom? Dad? Your parents? Your family?” Words fell from her pretty mouth. My finger touched them to silence her.

“Everyone is alright, and it looks like your mom is coming over.” Seraphina stood, keeping the blanket wrapped around her delectable body.

“Mom?” she whined, running towards her. Her mom looked like an exact copy of Seraphina. Fiery red hair, unblemished skin, but now she was sporting pointed ears and a wrinkle free face. Savannah cupped her daughter’s face.

“I’m so proud of you,” she cried. “I never would have dreamed.” Choking, Folen wrapped his arms around his mate, rubbing her arms together. Seraphina glanced Folen up and down again.

“You don’t have to call me dad,” Folen began.

“But I want to,” Seraphina interrupted. Folen’s eyes fogged over, pulling Seraphina and her mom into an enormous hug. They all cried while I stood by and watched. You know, being the awkward one.

Speaking of awkward.

“Would you look at that?” Solen stood beside me, hands on his hips. “That is a good family moment, you should take a picture.” Rolling my eyes, I turned to him.

“Sure, I’ll pull them out of my pocket.” Looking down, I pretend to be shocked because I was still naked. “Whoops, guess I can’t,” I shrugged my shoulders, not paying attention to him.

“That’s alright, I brought one,” a bright flash escaped the phone. He held it out to show me the picture, but all it was a picture of himself staring at it like an idiot. “Whoops, forgot to turn it around,” he muttered before I stomped away from him.

Vampires.

“Daddy!” I heard a little girl yell. She weaved through Wolves still cleaning and jumped in the arms of Alpha Mason. Great, who let him out? Dad walked behind him, scowling, and not saying a word. His hands in fists staying close to Mason.

Nonnie jumped in his arms while his nose nuzzled into her neck. “My little baby,” he cried. His mate stood beside him, her hand on his shoulder. Mason pulled her into a hug, all three sitting on the ground together.

“Alpha Mason,” dad spoke loud for all to hear. “I’m stripping you of your title as Alpha. You are now an ordinary Bear member. Your crimes are that of treason and putting your pack in danger. For such crimes, your penalty is death.” Alpha’s Mason’s mate cried out in agony. Nonnie cried while the other Bears watched. Many had blank faces, others of sorrow.

“Unless,” dad spoke again. “You have someone that would vouch for you. Meaning someone to take responsibility for your actions. It cannot be your mate.” The group of Bears all looked at each other, stepping backward. They had given up on their previous alpha. Who could blame them? He led them straight into the wolf’s den. Ha.

As everyone sat silent, Big Claw stepped forward. “I will take responsibility.” Kane’s eyes narrowed.

“How do you plan to do that? He doesn’t live within your pack.”

“He will become one of ours,” Alpha Big Claw came over to Mason. “He will work as we do, play as we do, and most importantly, learn how to protect as we do. His mate and child will be welcome here. We see no problem with interspecies living.”

Dad crossed his arms, looking at Alpha Big Paw in the eye. “Very well, but if he steps out of line once, I am to be informed.” Mason gave an enormous hug to Big Claw, eternally grateful for saving his life.

“We have one more matter of business,” dad announced again. Jonas was slung into the dirt, face eating the dried blood. Spitting it out, he rose to his feet, scowling at anyone who dared to look him in the eye. Seraphina came to my side, holding my hand.

“Jonas, you helped lead the team of rogues to the border and inside the pack territory, willing to work with the Kitsune. Your punishment will also be death unless someone can vouch for you.” The crickets of the night sang a tune, pleading eyes looking at his fellow bear members. His eyes roamed the area until he met Seraphina.

“Seraphina!” He smiled. “Seraphina will vouch for me.” My mate scoffed, wrapping the blanket tighter. “Come on, we had a thing going.”

“What thing?” she whispered exasperatedly. Clearing her throat, she stood up straight, tucking the ends of the blanket around her body. Her hips swayed, her bare feet lighting up the ground.

“I’ll tell you what,” she clicked her tongue. “I’ll vouch for you if you can hit me.” Stepping forward, Dimitri pulled me back.

“Seriously dude, she’s gonna kick his ass. Just watch.” Huffing, I stepped back, still ready to jump in if necessary. She just fucking woke up, and she was over here getting in another fight.

Before Jonas could lift a paw, Seraphina had the roots on the ground of the nearby oak tree trip him to the ground. Her hand went up and with one large swipe, she slashed it right across his face. One foot stood on his back, her hand gripped into his hair, pulling his dirty face from the soil.

“Did I win?” she sultry said. Jonas groaned, falling into the dirt.
