“Capo, I swear I don’t know what you see in my daughter!” Dario tried to reason. “She’s not the most beautiful. I can find you someone else. The Wolves have her. I can’t break through their territory. I can find you someone better!” Dario’s arm, now numb, climbed up the left side of his body. His neck and face began to droop.
“Tsk, Tsk,” the Kitsune snuffed out his nose. “I told you from the beginning I have specific… requirements,” he purred inwardly. Pulling out Seraphina’s photograph, he fingered the side of her face. “And she meets all of them.”
“She’s infertile!” Dario screamed. “I didn’t tell you, but she is. Seraphina won’t be able to conceive a child for you!” Dario groaned, his heart throbbing in his chest. The pressure became unbearable.
“Buffoon,” The Kitsune walked to the window, staring at the dead body of the mayor in the nearby wood. Animals of the forest cleaned up the leftovers, taking them to their own homes for their own desires. “I knew that already. In fact, I know many things that you don’t.” The Kitsune played with his claws. “Her infertility is but a minor issue that I will resolve, so don’t worry. Also, Seraphina is not really your daughter.” The Kitsune smirked, looking back at a confused Dario.
“What?” his voice slurred.
“That’s right, your precious wife that did no wrong. She had an affair, with an Elf while she was paying respects to her mother. Seraphina isn’t even your daughter.” Dario’s heart sunk. He had loved his wife. Savannah was everything he wanted in a woman. She obeyed him, calmed him even when he did despicable things in his line of work. The ultimate betrayal was when he took Seraphina and tried to run away with her.
The Kitsune laughed heartedly, “Oh, your face! The many years knowing was well worth it!” Dario groaned, the pain both mentally and physically were finally dimming the lights in his eyes. “On top of that, I was the one that blew up your warehouse.” Dario shot his head back up to look into the red eyes.
“That’s right, a colleague of mine was having you make my biochemical weapons. I ruined you so you had to make a contract with me, so I could get your ‘daughter’,” the Kitsune put in air quotations. “You had to take the deal with me, or then what? Your plans to take over the western hemisphere would go up in smoke. I had every one of your clients pull from you after that warehouse destruction with just one phone call, causing you to lose billions! Who would want a don that can’t take care of his own business?” Dario’s mouth hung in shock, drool leaving the numb side of his face.
“Then I had the liberty of watching you suffer this past year. Running not just to find your daughter, but for your own life.”
The Kitsune laughed manically. “Sorry, things tend to get really boring when you live for so long,” he wiped an imaginary tear from his eye. “The only thing I did not foresee was my future mate already mated to two WOLVES!” He roared mightily, his tails swayed heavily, knocking over the pictures on the elaborately decorated desk. Dario choked, his breath was knocked from his body and his head fell backwards until his heart stopped beating completely.
The Kitsune breathed heavily over Dario’s body, regretting scaring him into having a heart attack. He wanted him to suffer more, suffer for letting his step daughter get too far away. If the countries he had been in control over hadn’t been so difficult, he would have found her himself, and in less time.
Finding Seraphina, his chosen mate, was anything short of a miracle to him. Seraphina hid in a mansion in Italy being taught by tutors and out of sight of anyone in the Rinaldi family. She wasn’t the perfect picture Dario had wanted someone to look in his family.
The Kitsune sauntered back to the large office chair, sitting back, getting his nine tails situated, staring at the lifeless body of Dario. Seraphina was stunning. How dare her step-father say otherwise? Her red hair that matched her mothers, her wide hips and luscious thighs. It was all he could do to keep the drool from leaving his perfectly groomed hair around his mouth.
What would he have done if he had not attended the Online National Union of Future Leaders just a few years ago? Just because he was a Kitsune didn’t mean he stayed in his half form all the time. Many times, he would be in full human form. He had to if he wanted to recruit any men or women for his many teams that worked on his various projects. He scrolled through every profile of young adults attending. One was that of Seraphina Rinaldi. Her eyes glittered on the screen, watching the speaker, not even aware of a supernatural creature pondering her baring his fox kits.
Quickly having his team hack her computer, he already knew she was everything he wanted. The bright red hair that matched part of his tails, her porcelain skin, the freckles on her face only added to her beauty. He found her entire background, which wasn’t much, but what was there impressed him. Even through homeschool she was insanely brilliant. Seraphina stayed at home, no outdoor activities that he could tell, and the secret daughter of the Italian Don Dario Rinaldi.
Since that day his obsession had grown, he was going to get his chosen mate. This had been meticulously planned from the start. Only problem he did not foresee were the two Alpha princes of Bergarian. The Kitsune’s paws reached out, scratching the table again. The wood curled, and the sound squealed into the bears’ ears.
“Clean this up,” he said in a low voice. The Bears executed their cleaning duties while the Kitsune’s tails swayed.
Another plan was forming in his mind. Watching through the little eyes of the forest, through a squirrel, no doubt, had shown that his innocent little mate was no longer innocent, and in fact mated. His lips curled into a cruel smile.
“I’ll still have her,” he thought. “I just have to devise my plan shrewdly.”
Chapter Fifty-Eight
Dimitri
DaxpeckedSeraphina’scheekbefore he rolled out of bed. We still had a few hours until we gathered for the meeting, but Dax was troubled. Seraphina would not stop talking about some squirrel sitting outside of our window, swearing she saw red, beady little eyes watching us. Dax and I were both laughing, cutting up. Eva would flash her eyes in amusement.
When we finally got her to sleep, because she was acting like a toddler that didn’t get their nighttime treat, we noticed some changes. Her skin was brighter, like an Elf that gives off an ethereal glow, with fewer imperfections in her skin. Thank the gods her freckles were still painted on her skin. That would have been a damn shame. I had already recounted the 429 of them on her face just to be sure. Seraphina’s ears were slightly pointed, very subtle, but it was there. Her hair was even thicker, more luscious than before since coming out of the shower.
These changes were coinciding with her parents mating somewhere in the pack house, or so says Melody. She would notice some crazy shit like that. When we told her all the changes, she wanted to scramble up to the room to sketch her in her book. There was no way that would happen. I’m not dealing with a whiny toddler waking up in the middle of the night.
Dax linked he was going to grab us breakfast. I could feel the annoyance on the other side of the brotherly bond. Anything would upset him if Seraphina was upset. Once Seraphina fell asleep, he got up and even went outside to make sure the demon squirrel wasn’t there. Just confirming his suspicions, there wasn’t any animal. In fact, the forest was eerily quiet. Not even the nightlife was coming out like normally did.
There were a lot of predators around, though. We overpopulated the territory with warriors and bears. What other animal other than us would want to get in our way anyhow?
Seraphina stirred, clutching me tightly. Her bountiful breasts squeezed together at my side, my body ached to have one more round, but I swear if she brought up that squirrel I think Declan might go out and find himself and eat the damn thing.
“Morning,” she whispered, covering her mouth. I chuckled.
“What are you doing, babe?” Her eyes looked to the bathroom.
“I have morning breath.” Smirking, I moved her palm from her mouth and kissed her lips. At first, she denied it, but eventually gave in to my influence. My tongue swirled around hers, sucking on it gently.
