“And if I don’t.”

“Then you have been warned. There’s a reason strangers don’t come here you know, and if you value yourself, your morality and your decency, walk away now. If you want your freedom, your sanity and memories that don’t haunt you at night, walk away now. If you want to be fucked on repeat, morning, noon and night, then carry on walking and if you have no fear, are full of love and have a woman who can’t live without you inside, then welcome home.”

He holds out his arms and as I fall into them, I love the way they wrap around me and make everything instantly better. It feels so good being in Sawyer’s arms again, and as his lips find mine, I can finally relax.

I’m not sure how long we stay outside. There seems so much to say but not many words are exchanged. Instead, physical contact takes over and we can’t stop kissing as we make up for three months of stacked promises and desire.

Finally, reluctantly and with difficulty, we pull apart and I smile. “Good to see you, soldier.”

“Likewise.”

He takes my hand in his and growls, “Are you gonna make me stand out here all night, or do I get to see first-hand what all the fuss is about?”

My eyes flash with excitement as I prepare to show Sawyer my home and a family that I am so proud of and as we head inside, my heart beats faster as I wonder what he’ll make of it.

The first placewe head is to Ryder’s office. Visitors must check in with him first and as I knock on the door, I hear the gruff tone of our president.

We head inside and I see Snake, Brewer and Ryder looking at some kind of paperwork and they look up and smile their welcome.

Ryder stands and holds out his hand. “Good to see you, soldier, is everything set?”

I look at Sawyer in shock as he nods. “Official as of today.”

“What’s going on?” I look between them and Snake grins. “Maybe you should ask your old man.”

“My…” Sawyer takes my hand and grins.

“I’m now officially unemployed and looking for work. Someone told me there was a job going here if I could find someone mad enough to put up with me. I could only think of one feisty lady mad enough to take me on, so here I am.”

“You mean…” I look around the room and note the amusement on the faces watching me with interest. “Yes, darlin’, meet our newest club member.”

My eyes fill with tears and I can’t speak as Ryder says, “We could use a sniper and from what I saw, Sawyer is one of the best.”

Brewer throws Sawyer a jacket and this time the tears do escape, as Sawyer shrugs on the Reaper jacket and says with some emotion, “Thank you for the opportunity, sir.”

“It’s our pleasure, soldier. Millie’s family and now you’re family, welcome home.”

Snake laughs softly. “I’m guessing you’d rather be catching up, but we’re under strict instructions to take you straight to the bar and give you a proper welcome. Sorry, that’s the rules.”

“According to your old lady, I suppose.” Brewer laughs as Snake nods. “You’ll understand when you meet her, Sawyer. One word of advice, it’s the women who call the shots at the Rubicon, unlike that shit palace you’re used to. So maybe you should learn that lesson before it gets you in a whole lot of trouble.”

Sawyer looks at me and smiles. “You don’t have to tell me; Millie is the most important person in my life and I will spend the rest of it making her happy.”

Ignoring the men, I step closer and pull his head down sharply and kiss the life out of those heavenly lips before whispering, “I love you, Sawyer.”

“I love you more.”

We kiss again and Brewer says loudly, “For fuck’s sake, I’m gonna cry. Let’s get the hell out of here and grab a beer. God knows I need it.”

As we walk toward the bar, I can’t wait for Sawyer to meet the rest of the family because I have a feeling he’s going to fit in just fine.

Chapter 43

Sawyer

If I had any reservations at all about coming here, they disappeared as soon as I saw Millie. It felt like home immediately because she’s here.
