“Now, I demand to speak to Lee. I know that he’s the fucker behind all this. Get his cowardly arse in here.” The meathead just stands there glaring at me as I wait for him to do as he was told. “You’re in no position to be making demands here,” he says in a harsh tone as he approaches me. His deep, baritone voice sends a quiver of need through my body and straight to my pussy.Fucking greedy bitch.
“Let me see your hand,” he commands as he comes to a stop in front of me. I cradle my hand closer to my chest, having momentarily forgotten about the pain. The short lapse of unfeeling passes, making way for an agonizing ache that radiates from my knuckles through my wrist but fizzles out near my elbow.I guess that’s what happens when you get mad enough to punch a wall.
He gently peels my hand away and inspects it. The swelling and bruising are already visible, and I can easily tell that it’s broken. Before he can analyze it any further, I slap his hand away and step back. “I need to pee,” I tell him, and before he can react, I run for the door that he came through only moments ago. As I crash into the room, the first thing that I see is Ric. I instantly rush to him.
“Oh my god, they got you too? Are you okay? They didn’t hurt you too badly, did they?” I demand as I awkwardly wrap my good arm around his waist, but as I pull myself away from him slightly. I see the grimace on his face, and that’s when it hits me. “You bastard! You were fucking in on it, weren’t you?” I ask as I lift my good hand to punch him. He doesn’t even flinch. A dark chuckle fills the room from the doorway to the basement, and I turn to glare at the meathead. “What the fuck is going on here, Ric? Who the fuck are you guys?” I ask, and then that’s when I notice my surroundings. The room is filled with monitors; cameras cover every inch of... wherever we are. There’s even one trained on the room where I was being kept.
“You sick fucks! You’ve been watching me this whole fucking time? That’s how you knew that I had hurt my hand,” I spit as I turn to fully face the meathead. He just grins at me. At least Ric has the decency to look ashamed of himself. “I need to call my dad,” I state firmly. I need to find out how Ellie is doing and to let my dad know that I haven’t been harmed.
“Yeah, that ain’t gonna happen, Little Brawler,” the meathead drawls teasingly. “Kendric won’t like it if I let that happen,” he says, but quickly slams his mouth shut.I’m going to guess that he wasn’t supposed to let that slip. So, I was wrong then. Lee doesn’t have me at all; it’s been Kendric this whole time.
“I want to see him,” is all I say. Meathead looks over my head, in a gesture that suggests the person I want to speak to is right behind me. “Don’t even try to convince me that this is him because Inowknow that it isn’t. So, now my question is... who the fuck are you?” I ask again, hoping this time they will tell me the truth. I know that so far, they’ve been lying out their arses.
“I’m Dayton, the resident techie. Or as the guys call me Gadge, because I use all the gadgets.” The tattooed god informs me. I’m a little disappointed that none of what happened between us was real, even if all I wanted was to climb him like a tree. I turn to face the meathead, who just continues to smirk at me without speaking.
“That’s Barker, he’s our enforcer,” Dayton supplies. Barker grins at me before saying, “You will never see Kendric, only us. Oh, and Gryffin.” So, Kendric is going to play the coward card, I guess.
“Is your boss scared of me or something?” I ask them, and they look at me like I’ve grown three heads. Dayton bursts into chuckles while Barker merely glares at me. “No, Little Brawler. Ric isn’t scared of you; you just aren’t worth the time you would take up. Now, do you still have to pee?” Barker asks hotly. What the fuck has changed his attitude?I shake my head, and he grabs my good hand, pulling me back into the tiny room they’ve kept me in for God knows how long. “How long have I been here?” I ask as Barker drops my hand like he’s been burned. “Twelve hours, give or take,” he says, walking away. The room starts to spin, and I stumble, leaning against the wall as tears burn behind my eyes. I have to get out of here, I have to get back to Ellie.
As he comes back over to me, I say, “You have to let me speak to Ric. Please, Barker?” At this point, I’m not above begging. I’ll do anything to get home to my little girl. If the bastards had done their homework, then they would have known about her. He doesn’t say anything as he wraps my wrist and hand, and his silence makes me stop and question everything.Do they know? Not a lot of our enemies know that she’s mine. In fact, most people assume that Ellie is my sister. The only people who know the truth are those closest to us.
Barker remains unmoving, unwilling to help me. “I’m sorry, Little Brawler, but I just can’t do it,” he says, shaking his head as he stalks out of the room. The door slams closed, leaving me behind and almost completely encased in darkness as a finite feeling crashes into me, letting me know that this is it. I crumble to the floor, tucking my knees under my chin and letting the tears silently fall down my face.
After a while, my whole body is sore from sitting on the floor for so long. I heave myself up and pull the mattress under me, but I leave the bed where it is against the far wall.

DAYTON
Barker, Gryffin, and I watch her on the monitors. She has been lying on the floor for a while, but eventually, she gets up and pulls the mattress underneath her.
“Anyone else hungry?” Barker breaks the silence that has stretched between the three of us. Gryffin shrugs in response but doesn’t actually say anything. “I could eat. Maybe... we should feed Harley as well?” I say, and Gryffin pins me with a glare,
“No! Why should we?” he asks.
“Look, I know Ric is right, and Graysonisour enemy, but look at her, Gryffin...sheis NOT Grayson. We don't have to be complete shitheads to her while she's here,” I explain, but this fucker frustrates the life out of me. He needs to understand where I’m coming from here. “Gadge is right, we can’t exactly let her starve now, can we?” Barker says, trying to break the rising tension between Gryffin and me. “This is a bad fucking idea if you ask me. We shouldn’t be nice to prisoners, but you two will do what you fucking want anyway, so why even bother asking me for my opinion,” Gryffin spits as he storms out of the room. No doubt he will focus on working out his frustrations in the gym, or he will sulk for the rest of the night in his room like a petulant fucking child.
Barker watches me as I study the monitor a little too closely. I catch his gaze and shrug before saying, “Can’t help but watch her, can you, Gadge?” The fucker chuckles as he moves his gaze from me to the camera. “Yeah, and I ain’t the only one, am I? Shit, dude, I can’t help it. I feel a pull towards this girl. I don’t know what it is, but she makes me feel possessive... kinda like I wanna protect her from everything, and I’d happily burn the fucking world down if anyone so much as breathed on her the wrong way.”
“And yet, we’re the ones doing more harm than good right now, but I feel it too. Hell, I love the fact that she has that fighting spark. When she broke my nose, I wanted to claim her then and there, but Ric would have had my balls in a vice if I even so much as thought about acting on my feelings,” Barker says as he moves towards the door. “I’ll go order pizza for us,” he says as he closes the door behind him, leaving me to watch Harley.

The door opens, and Barker’s tall frame fills the doorway. “Thought you might be hungry.” He says as he saunters into the room with a tray in front of him. He stops and turns, reaching behind him for something near the door.
Suddenly, the room floods with bright light. I blink and look at him, confused. “Did you seriously think we would just leave you in here... in the dark... to starve?” He chuckles as he brings the tray over, placing it in front of me. This guy and his mood swings are making me dizzy, but I see that he’s brought pizza with him this time.
My stomach rumbles as I eye the food cautiously.
“It’s not drugged, you can eat it,” he says as he takes a slice from the plate. I grab a slice, practically inhaling it. I didn’t realise how hungry Iactuallywas until now. We eat in silence, each of us clearly lost in our own thoughts. “So why am I here?” I ask him because I’m still very confused as to why they would kidnap me without any reasoning unless they know something that I don’t.
He turns his cold, haunted, Caribbean green gaze on me. “Because we need you. You’re here as a means to an end for us, a message to your father,” he states. What the fuck!“What type of message do you want to send?” I ask, keeping my eyes locked on his. His jaw ticks, and I watch as his hands ball into fists. Instead of giving me an answer, he stands up sharply and storms out of the room. I finish eating alone before climbing back onto the mattress and wishing that sleep would pull me under.
