Micha lifted his head and his vision blurred as tears threatened to fall. “Yes.”
Arden stumbled and Bash was out of the bed in a flash. He grabbed the dragon and sat him down on the bed. Arden stared at his hands for a long while and the room was plunged into silence once more.
Micha closed his eyes and sucked in a shuddering breath. “I did it because I love you Arden and I love them. Not for you to consider keeping me around.” Micha fully expected for the dragon to dismiss him. He didn’t deserve to be happy when he’d tried to strip everything from Arden.
“Can I see?” Arden asked.
“Arden,” Eldon started his tone gentler than before.
Micha peeked at the vampire and the worry on his face scared him. Not for himself, but Arden.
“All of you have seen it?” Arden asked.
Each of them nodded.
“Then I want to as well.”
Gamble sighed but the witch grabbed Spooky and pulled him close. Micha wondered how bad it was. If the pain was anything to go by there was a huge gaping hole in his back.
Eldon pressed a soft kiss to Micha’s forehead and the nephilim shut his eyes, sucking in a calming breath. “We are going to turn you over.”
Micha got ready to turn but Bash made his way over to his side. “Let us.”
“Okay,” was all Micha could say. He relaxed as best he could as Eldon and Bash lifted him. His back throbbed but it was nowhere near the pain when he moved himself.
Micha was once again face flat on the bed. He turned his head and let out a slow breath.
“We are going to remove the bandages,”Bash said.
“It’s time to change them anyway.” Eldon’s calm tone helped ease the knot in Micha’s stomach.
As they pulled the bandages off Micha stayed as still as possible. He hissed the moment cool air touched his back. He tried to move his wings but that had him biting into the bed. The scream was impossible to hold back as darkness threatened to suck him back down to the abyss of slumber.
Micha couldn’t fall back asleep, not yet. Not till he and Arden were done talking.
“I’m going to pour the witch’s brew over it okay,” Eldon said.
Micha groaned as he prepared himself.
No one said anything as Eldon poured the liquid on Micha’s back. He let out a breath when it didn’t burn. If anything it brought down the raging inferno in his body. The vampire’s cool fingers were a blessing as Eldon dressed his wound once more.
Mich wasn’t ready to see the damage, not when he was still emotionally and mentally raw.
“Better?” Bash asked.
“Yes, thank you,” Micha said.
Bash and Eldon turned him back around and the moment Micha saw Arden’s guilt stricken face he knew it was bad. He wanted nothing more than to reach out to the dragon and reassure him.
Gamble and Spooky’s faces were no better, they too looked lost.
“I'm okay,” Micha said.
Spooky bit his lip and Micha could tell the familiar wanted to say something but he kept his mouth shut. He didn’t know if that was good or bad.
“I need you all to leave,” Arden said.
Spooky sat up. “But—”
